I woke up, the curtains clearly blocked the blazing summer sun from peeking in. I rubbed my eyes and stretched before sitting up. I looked over and max was sound asleep. I smiled and got up as carefully as I could. I walked to the bathroom, getting dressed, doing my hair, and brushing my teeth. Once I was presentable I opened the bathroom door. "Holy frick!" I said as I nearly jumped out of my pants. "Dammit Ryan you scared me" I said, looking at Ryan. "Sorry.. you sure took long enough, we're all awake now" he replied. I glanced past him and saw max who was now standing next to the bed. "Sorry" I said, walking into the room. "Good morning" I said as Max walked over to me. He embraced me in a tight hug. "Good morning" he replied, sounding odd. "Max.." I questioned as I pulled away. He knew I'd figured out something was up. "What's up" I asked furrowing my eyebrows. "It's nothing" he said trying to fake a smile. "Max, I thought you'd never lie to me" I questioned in shock. "I- I wouldn't dove, just please trust that I'll be okay. I have some things going on that I just can't discuss" he said. I sighed. "Okay" I replied. "Thank you" he said hugging me again. I squeezed my eyes shut.
---------------
"Harvey, what do you think the future holds for us" I asked. He sighed. "I mean in two and a half days we're out of this joint and we have to get our lives together" I added. "I don't know. Let's just find out as we go" he smiled before kissing me on the forehead. "Max, what's wrong" I asked, noticing that he'd barely touched his dinner. "Oh sorry" he said picking up his fork. I furrowed my eyebrows but when I went to speak, my phone rang.
Me: "hello, mom?"
Mom: "no sweetie this is aunt Barbara"
Me: "oh, hi barb, what's up?"
Barb: "oh quite a bit. Your mother is in the hospital"
When she said this I quickly stood up.
Me- "what?! Why?"
Barb: "well, she git sick and we thought it was a simple cold but I guess it wasn't"
Me: "I'll be over as soon as I can"
Barb: "thank you dear"
I ended the call. "Harvey, I have to go" I said, on the verge of tears. "What's wrong" he asked. "My mom is in the hospital" I said. "You both can go too" I offered. "Of course, let's go" they both replied. Me, max, Harvey, and Caroline piled into my car. I drove away from the college in the direction of the hospital, I was scared. "Hey" Harvey said, laying his hand on my thigh. "It will be okay" he added. I nodded and kept going. When I arrived I basically jumped out of the car. "Caroline!" I yelled, making sure she could catch up with me. We all ran inside and I spotted my aunt. "Barb" I shouted. "Hi dear" she said as she gave me, then Caroline, a hug. "She's okay right now but we aren't sure what will happen" she explained. We waited for a while. "Okay, Martin is free" the doctor said as he walked in. I jumped up and walked quite quickly to my mother's room. "Mommy" I cried as I ran to her. She put her arms out for me to hug her. "Oh, hi baby. I haven't seen you in three years" she said. "I know momma it's been too long" I sniffled. She hugged Caroline and went through the same conversation. "Hi boys!" She beamed to max and Harvey. They both gave her a hug. My mom, of course, has known Max and Harvey for the same amount of time that I have which is almost 21 years.
-------------
"Mom" I said. She turned her attention to me. "So, Harvey asked me to marry him" I smiled. She gasped. "Oh how sweet, childhood besties turned spouses, that's amazing congrats" she said with a huge smile. Harvey put his arm around me and we all sat for the rest of the night. The next morning the doctor informed me that they were going to let my mom go but they're keeping her on high antibiotics.        We arrived at my moms house and I settled her in on the couch with some coffee. "Go dear" she said. "What?" I asked. "You have school, go" she repeated. "Are you sure" I asked. She nodded. I kissed her on the cheek and let everyone say their goodbyes before going back to my car.
----------------
I plopped down on my bed next to max. "Hard day" he asked. "Yeah" I sighed. "We pack up and leave tonight" I said. "I'm going to miss this place." I sighed again.
--------------
"Penny, Jess, are you sure you don't need a ride" I asked. They nodded and we hugged. "Goodbye Zander, I'll miss you for now, I'll see you in the near future" I said as I hugged him. "And Ryan. I'll see you" I said hugging him tight. "Bye" I waved as I got in my car. Harvey was in the passenger seat and max and Caroline were in the back. Goodbye college.
