The doctors finally, after hours, came back. It's been 8hrs since I last spoke to a doctor. "Sir, we've gotten dove awake, long enough to birth the baby and say goodbyes... if you'd like to see her now, you may. Be quick though" he said. Before he finished I got max and we ran into her room. She was laying down, her slim figure was still. She opened her eyes and looked at me. "Hi baby" I said. She attempted to smile. "It hurts all over Harv" she said. I nodded and sniffled a bit. I took a step to the left and let Max show himself. "Hi dove" he said, trying not to cry anymore. "Hi Maxie. I love you and I'm sorry" she said. "No, I'm sorry don't you be sorry. I love you so much. Never forget" he said to her. She smiled and turned her head. "I have to have the baby" she told me. I walked closer and grabbed her hand. "You'll be a great daddy. And max will be a great uncle. Don't be sad baby please" she begged. I can't do this without her. "Go to Jess for any help and max too" she smiled. Tears fell on her cheeks as she smiled. Soon the doctors came in and max stood outside while dove had the baby. We decided to wait until birth to know the gender.... it's a girl. She's premature since we had to have her so early. But I'm glad I have my girl. I looked down into the incubator that she layed in. I took a quick picture and showed it to dove. "She's beautiful. What should we name her" she asked. "Charlotte" I suggested. She smiled "it's wonderful" she said. I squeezed her hand and turned away as the doctor slid out her IV, when he was done I looked back at her, she looked relaxed. "It doesn't hurt anymore Harvey" she smiled. I choked back tears and max walked up next to me. "I love you guys" she said. "I love you too" we both replied. Then, she closed here eyes and her grip on my hand loosened. This is it. I turned away and walked to the door.
-----------3 years later-------------
I finished toasting the last piece of toast and slid it on the plate. "Good morning daddy!" I heard. I turned around and saw my beautiful daughter. "Good morning pumpkin! How did you sleep" I asked as I picked her up. "Good daddy. His did you sleep" she responded. I smiled and said good. Every time I look at her, I see dove. "Today is my princess' birthday!" I beamed. She giggled. "I'm 3 now" she laughed. We sat down and ate. "Mommy loves you" she said, as she did every day. "And she loves you too" I replied poking her nose.
