I ran up the steps to his apartment, quickly bringing my knuckles to his door in a repetitive motion.
I heard him unlock the door from the other side, inviting me in with a smile.
"Holy shit, aren't you cold?" He asked me, clicking up the heat.
"A little." I giggled.
"You look like shit, what happened?" He frowned, realizing how beat up and tired I looked.
"Wow thanks, Cole. Just what every girl wants to hear." I rolled my eyes sarcastically.
"Sorry." He nervously chuckled, scratching the back of his neck.
"I'm just having some family problems at the moment." I replied casually, opening his fridge and grabbing out a water.
Over the past five months, Cole and I have become exceptionally close. We don't really get to see eachother much, seeing as I'm busy with work and so is he, but when we are together you could mistake us as besties since birth.
I mean it honestly scared me how much alike we were.
"Do you want some clothes to change into before we go?" He asked, beginning to walk down the hall with me following behind.
"Go where?" My eyes lit up, my mood instantly changing.
"It's a secret." He winked, bringing me into his bedroom.
"Well I guess so." I smiled, watching as he dug through his drawer, looking for something that would fit me.
He pulled out a pair of grey joggers and a big white t-shirt, handing them to me to change into.
"Don't worry, where we're going it doesn't really matter what you look like." He smiled reassuringly, leaving the room so I could change.
As soon as I heard the door click shut, I began to strip. The clothes were ginormous on me, but the coziness made up for it.
I walked into his bathroom that was connected to his room, taking down my messy bun. I grabbed the comb on the counter, running it through my messy, blonde hair. I decided on leaving it down, seeing as I had a headache from it being pulled up all day.
I walked out of the room, finding Cole scrolling through his text messages. He smiled slightly, making me wonder if he was texting a girl. A slight pang of jealously came over me, but I quickly brushed it off. I was not the type to get jealous.
"Cole?" I spoke, breaking the silence of the room. He jumped, getting startled by my voice.
"You just gave me a heart attack, I didn't realize you were changed so fast." He turned around laughing.
"Sorry about that." I slightly giggled, pulling the joggers up a little as they were slowly sliding down my hips.
"Anyways, do you have a jacket I could borrow too?"
"Oh yeah, I'll get it then we can leave." He nodded, running to find a jacket.
He returned with a big grey hoodie, putting it on for me. I chuckled as he zipped the zipper, grabbing my hand and pulling me out into the cold.
We carefully walked down the steps, getting into his car and turning the heat on immediately.
I laid back in the seat, enjoying the feeling of being able to sit down and relax. Cole played gentle music, making the drive to our secret destination so much better.
After awhile, we had pulled up to a place with a small number of parked cars and a big screen. I smiled as I realized we were at a drive-in movie, myself never personally having the time to come to one.
Cole parked in a place on the grass, which we could conveniently see the screen from the inside of the car.
Cole reached into the back, pulling out pillows, blankets, and chips. I smiled as I realized he must've put this stuff in while I was changing.
"This is too cute, Cole." I laughed, rolling the windows slightly down so we could hear the movie.
The Outsiders was ironically playing, seeing as we were watching the scene with them at a drive-in movie while we were at one ourselves.
"So you like it?" He asked, turning to me.
The light of the movie reflected ever so slightly on his face, making it to where I could only see the glimmer of his eyes and the shimmer of his hair.
"Like it? I love it." I shoved him on the shoulder playfully.
"Good." He smiled, grabbing the chip bag from and turning back to the movie with a smug look.
In a way I felt as if this was making up for the childhood I never had. Who knew spending time with someone could be so good?
