"E-Ember, what are you doing here?" Cole panicked, grabbing his boxers off the floor and putting them on under the blanket.

The blonde girl began to sit up, the blankets pulled over her breasts as she stared at me in confusion. She was beautiful, prettier than I was. She had perfect hair and bright blue eyes.

I felt cold, sick. I didn't understand what was happening. Everything was so perfect. Cole and I were so perfect.

I turned in a swift motion, walking towards the door. I grabbed my suitcase and slammed open the door, hearing Cole scurrying behind me.

I had made it to the elevator door before he grabbed my upper arm from behind, spinning me around with a quick motion. I didn't look into his eyes, but down at my hands as they shook. His other hand went to my other arm, causing me to look up with wide eyes.

"Ember..." he spoke silently, pleading for my attention.

"I-I wanted you, Cole." I stuttered, my lip beginning to quiver.

He was silent and looked down at me with sorry eyes, causing me to stare into them for only a moment before I turned around and began to leave him standing there.

I almost cried, almost. I was just so over spilling tears this week, so over being sad over other people.

I grabbed my phone, dialing a uber as I rushed out of the hotel. Quickly I had hung up, realizing I was starving from the trip here. I decided to walk to a little shop down the road.

The little bell dinged as I walked through the glass door. A sign read please seat yourself, so I walked to the back corner of the shop.

The red leather of the seat crinkled as I sat down, causing me to cringe at the noise. A man in front of me was stirring his coffee, that was in a ceramic cup, with a metal spoon. Which, was also driving me insane.

The clock above me ticked, bringing my attention to the time.

6:00pm. Damn, was it already six?

A man, seeming to be in his mid-fifties, approached my booth. He looked up from his little note pad, his eyes freezing on me. I immediately felt uncomfortable with his piercing stare.

"Hello." I bluntly spoke, snapping him out of his trance.

He had light brown hair, his eyes a mix of green and blue colors. His face was covered in a light stubble, and he had somewhat of a beer belly. His eyes also sagged, the underneath a dark purple shade.

"Oh--uh--, I'm so sorry. Can I start you off with anything to drink?" He politely spoke, his eyes never leaving me.

"Uh, yes, but I'm also ready to order." I spoke, sounding ruder than intended. Given my situation, I wasn't in the mood for polite anyways.

"Great, go ahead when you're ready." He revealed a crooked smile.

"I'll take the strawberry poppy seed salad and a raspberry lemonade." I read off the menu, then handing it to him.

"Alrighty, will that be all?" He scribbled onto his notepad.

"Yup, thank you." I looked down to my phone, seeing multiple texts, missed calls, and voice messages from Cole.

I slid my screen across and punched in my password, clicking on one of the voicemails.

"Ember, I'm so sorry. Please call me so we can talk. We can work this out. It's not like we were even dating anyways."

I bit my lip, anger filling me with the last sentence. I knew he was right, but didn't he know there was some kind of feelings there? He had told me that he wanted to kiss me back in the parking lot.

I held down the power button, sliding the screen across to power it off. The man had returned with my salad and drink, setting them in front of me.

He grinned kindly, handing me a straw for my lemonade. "I'll be back to check on you shortly, enjoy your salad."

I should have been flattered by how kind this man was being to me, but for some reason it made me feel worse.

I nodded slightly, my eyes laying on the condensation of my glass cup. I swiped my finger along it, looking at the water it had left, then rubbing it off on my hoodie.

I would say I sat in silence as I ate my food, but my thoughts were loud enough to make me deaf. And for the second time in my life I felt alone.

I paid my check and signed my signature and phone number, then immediately made my way for the airport.
