Song Cole and Ember listen to in the field above, you can listen to it at the part if you want. Totally depends on your preferences.
"Okay so wait wait." I covered my mouth while laughing, also being careful not to choke on the crackers I was eating.
"So you're telling me, that you pushed him off the roof?"
"That's exactly what I'm saying." Cole chuckled as well, taking a bite of his chips.
I smiled at his ridiculous story of pushing his brother off a roof. "So you knew he would break a limb, but you still did it?"
"Mhm" he nodded, standing up.
After the night Cole took me to the field and we watched the stars, we'd make it a tradition that every month we would come back.
It was currently our third month of being friends, so only our second time coming to the field.
After the date Cole and I had at the bar, we talked nothing of becoming a couple since. We didn't go on anymore dates, just hung out.
And in all honesty, I was fine with that.
He reached his hand out for mine, earning a skeptical look from me. It was dark, the field being lit up by the moon and stars– plus the lantern that was sat on our blanket.
"What are you doing, Cole?" I asked.
"We're gonna dance." He responded plainly.
I grabbed his hand, allowing him to pull me up. "What do you mean dance?"
"Exactly what you just said." He grinned, looking through his phone.
"What are you doing?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Looking for a song." He smiled up at me.
We stood silent, that is besides the crickets chirping and the breeze that blew.
I was wearing a long white dress, the kind that are sheer and have slits in the sides. I think they might be called maxi dresses. I was never a fashion person.
Cole's eye lit up as he clicked on his phone, setting it on the blanket. I didn't seem to recognize the song, it was slow in a way but not?
He grabbed onto my waist, pulling me close to him. We moved to the beat, Cole making weird faces as we swung in different directions, causing me to laugh unattractively.
My dress blew around as the breeze did, the music giving off a strange but comforting vibe. Neither Cole or I danced seriously, nor were we good, we just went with it.
As I watched him, the moon illuminating off of his features, I wondered what it would be like to kiss him. In the moment his lips looking so beautiful, and I wanted nothing more for them to be on mine.
Instead, our dancing was cut off by the song ending and my eyes snapped from his lips to the ground. He let go of me and smiled, causing me to smile too. The thought of kissing him quickly faded from mind and memory.
Dissolving into the abyss of forgotten ideas.
