Our Story

That One Cheerleader

Only my best friends knew I was a cheerleader. I didn't want anyone to say that I was a follower and a stereotypical girl (which they all called me anyways as a joke). After my leg had healed I continued practicing for the competition which was in about a month. We all knew the whole routine and were perfecting it.  The day of the competition I walked in and saw my two cheer best friends Skye and Love. I ran over and said hello to them very tiredly as it was like 6 in the morning. Since there were different divisions based on age we were split up. Our squad ranged from 4 to 13 year olds. Since me and Love were 12 we were both on the same team. Skye was 13 so she was a mentor for the smaller girls. Since there wasn't enough girls that were 13 we couldn't get an older squad. The day went by really slow actually which I was thankful for. I was so nervous. When it was finally our turn I looked to Love and she looked as nervous as I felt. As soon as we started I put on the happiest face I could and cheered my heart out. When we were done the whole squad was so excited because we all nailed the routine! After that we took some pictures then it was time for awards. Since we were some of the older divisions we were some of the last awards given out. When it was finally our turn we all held hands in a circle and looked at each other. There were 3 different teams in our division. We listened to the announcer and prayed we wouldn't be third. We weren't luckily. We listened for second place. Then we heard the announcer say our squad name. We got up in delight. Even if we weren't first we were second and that's still amazing. We got our trophies and took pictures with all the gifts and flowers we got. Then we all went home thinking about how much we practiced to go to this competition. I was so proud of everyone on the squad. I miss them so much now but I know ill see them soon because i'm going back to win again! (=
