CHAPTER TWELVE
~wooosh TIME SKIP to eight weeks later~
A few weeks later, a lot had happened, mostly with our favorite Special Agent, Joe Hobbs. His old ex, Randy Giles, had come around again. He was obsessed with Joe. One night at a bar, the gang was having a good time. Everyone was drinking, singing and laughing. That is, until Randy showed up. There was yelling between the two, many accusations. Randy got to the point where he pulled a gun on Scott, but Joe jumped in front of him just in time. Randy's bullet shot Joe in the neck.
"IF I CANT HAVE HIM, NOBODY CAN!" were his exact words.
Joe fell to the ground and Scott fell to him, kneeling over his fading body. "Joe, you're gonna be fine. Really. Come on. Come on, Joe. It's gonna be fine. Come on, Joe. Come on, Joe. No! NO!"

Joe's funeral was two weeks later. Scott was refusing to go, but, earlier that day, Mitch and Malo had tried to convince Scott to go. For his partner and friend...
"No, Malo, I'm not going. I lost a partner, that's all."
"And someone close to you. The funeral allows you to grieve so you can come to terms with his death." Malo replied.
Scott scoffed, but his face didn't show a cocky expression. Instead, this was his I-am-trying-to-hide-my-emotion face. "The Arunta Aboriginal tribe in Australia grieve by burning down their village and - and moving to a new one. That seems no crazier to me than gathering around a hole in the ground, Malo."
Mitch pulled Scott aside. "Look. I know how you see things, and I respect that, but I need to ask you a favor." He held up Joe's funeral card. "I have to go to the funeral. I'm not going to be able to get through this alone. I've been crying for, like, days. I really need your shoulder here. I need my best friend."
Scott looked at him for a moment before giving in and nodding. "Fine."

At the Arlington National Cemetery, everyone was gathered around a casket while Dobium gave the eulogy.
"I knew Joseph Hobbs. He was a good man who earned my respect and affection. And I don't like many people. Joe had a selfless commitment to his work, first in the military and then the F. B. I.. Two weeks ago, he made the ultimate sacrifice - giving his life to save his partner. And in the brave act, he showed us what greatness we are all capable of."
Scott leaned in to Mitch and whispered. "Randy was aiming at me and I would have happily taken that bullet."
Mitch nodded. "I know."
Dobium was still speaking, though. "May God's mercy and love shine on Joe Hobbs as he takes his place beside the Lord-"
Scott spoke a little louder. "If there were a merciful God, why wouldn't he have saved Joe, hm?"
Mitch nudged Scott as drums started playing as the officers prepare to fire their weapons. An officer yelled. "STANDBY." A man started to walk towards the coffin, as the rest of the officers continued to follow commands. "AIM." Joe pushed through Kirstie and Mal and punched the man, knocking him to the ground.
Mitch stood up quickly as the casket was pushed to the ground and opened up, revealing a dummy body inside. "WHAT THE HELL?!"
Kirstie tapped Mitch's shoulder. "Mitch, they appear to be fighting. That's whats going on."
