2. New rules

Soon we arrive at Hogwarts and we walk out into a crouch of people, Lily appears and tells Remus that they have to control the crowd as their duty as prefects and they slip into the crowd.

"How come she talks to everyone but me?" James huffs behind me, i smirk and start to look for Sirius. After about five minutes, afterward hitch most people are gone, I find him talking to a blond ravenclaw.

"Oi, sirius over here" I yell waving my arms, he winks at her and swaggers over to me, I pretend I didn't notice the wink as me, Sirius, James, Remus, Peter and Lily climb into a carriage. I jump when I see peter as I hadn't noticed him on the train, yet again he was always quiet. He didn't really look different, he was slightly taller and his hair was more tidy but other than that he look normal. My eyes glided to Lily she was beautiful as ever, longer hair, taller and more mature looking, if you know what I mean. We talk about the feast while the carriage jolts us up and down. When we go over a sizeable rock I fall sideways onto Remus' shoulder. As I push myself up apologising, I catch whiff of chocolate, and another smell like a warm home full of cake and bread.

After much talking we arrive at the gates. We all start to jump down and walk towards school. But before we get in professor Flitwick is waiting at the gates.

"Names," he says not looking up from his list.

"Uh professor have you had a memory loss potion?" I say as he looks up with a unamused expression.

"This is serious miss black!"  He says glaring at us. But at the word 'serious' we all burst out laughing and looking at Sirius. "Now really!" He huffs "names or we'll be out here all night."

"Urgh, Lyra Black."
"James Potter."
"Lily Evans."
"Peter Pettigrew."
"Sirius Black."
"Remus Lupin, professor why are you doing this?"
He looks up in surprise, isn't it obvious? There have been a lot of 'Deatheater' activity lately and Dumbledore thinks it appropriate," he say as he herds us out the way of some third years. I start to talk to Remus about You-know-who, while James starts trying to flirt with Lily and Peter and Sirius discuss what they did over the summer.

We all take our seats in the great hall, me in between Remus and Lily, James opposite Lily, Sirius opposite me and Peter opposite Remus. Soon the first years start trailing out, looking terrified and I remember my sorting...

"Black, Sirius" said Mcgonagal and nervously, he had let go of my hand and walked to the stool, where he sat for about ten seconds with the hat on his head as I hoped he would be Gryffindor, then the hat had yelled "GRYFFINDOR!" And I had beamed at him. "Black, Lyra" she had said next and I walked to the stool and rammed the hat on my head with one thought, "same as Sirius, please"
"Ah was that was you're twin then, hmmmm not all siblings are the same you know,"
"Please not slytherin"
"Hmmm you're very similar to him yet I see friendliness and intelligent and loyalty to your brother,"
"If you dare put me in slytherin I-"
"There it is, courage, GRYFFINDOR!" I pulled the hat off and practically ran to sit with Sirius. Soon after Lily sat with me, then Remus, then Peter, then James.

I was jerked suddenly out of my daydream, by a sudden pain in my side as Lily elbowed me and I realised my head was in her shoulder, I quickly jerked it up and blushed bright red.

"Now that the sorting is over and our new students are sat at their new houses, I have a few important word for you all. Firstly to the new students, the forest is strictly out of bounds and a few older students should remember that too," Dumbledore said looking at us, the marauders. "Secondly, filibuster's fireworks are now on the banded list and a full list can be found in Mr Filch's office, thirdly no magic is to be used in the corridors and finally, as you know you were searched upon your arrival, this is because there is a dark wizard who is slowly gaining more power," he stopes as the hall fills up with muttering and Remus whispered in my ear,

"Did you hear about that muggle family who were murdered?" I shook my head and looked him in the eyes, they were a light blue with a slight tinge of green and the edges.

"Ehem, I know this is very important for you to discuss but just wait a few more minutes," Dumbledore said over the hum of conversation and it died out as all eyes darted to him. "Thank you, now as I was saying, there will be some new rules I pave for your safety, firstly, all students are to be in their common rooms by 8:30 unless with a teachers permission, secondly no one is to go out into the grounds after 5:30 unless with a teachers permission, thirdly you will be searched every time you leave, or return to the castle and lastly all post is being searched before entering the castle. I hope these won't be too irksome and now, let the feast begin!"

Suddenly the plates filled with chicken, chips, roast beef, potatoes, carrots, peas and all other delicious foods. I start to pile it into my plate as conversion breaks out all over the hall.

"What were you saying about that muggle family?" I said turning to Remus.

"Yeah, it was on their newspaper a family of five ,two parents and their three children, were found in their house with the dark mark above it, apparently they had a fourth daughter who was a witch and she worked in the daily prophet," he said while putting pork chops on his plate.

"Wow, was that the witch who wrote about the Malfoys?" I said as I cut my chicken,

"Yeah, I think so that's why they targeted her family," he replied. We were interrupted by Lily and James arguing again.

"James! What's your problem with who I keep as company?" She said stabbing her potato angrily.

"I just don't get why you hang out with sniverlus, I mean he's a slytherin,"

"And? You're a big-headed prat but I still sit here?" She said, glaring at him. I tried not to laugh as James looked like he'd just me hit by a broomstick. The night carried on with no more arguments and soon everyone was feeling very sleepy.
