It had been three weeks since I'd left Hogwarts and it hadn't been fun. Me and Sirius hanged around together but our parents kept trying to lecture us about pure-bloods. One night at dinner it was a lecture.
"Muggle-Borns are dirty and horrible, I don't want you hanging round with that Mud-blood, Evans," my father said.
"She's my best friend and anyway it doesn't matter about her blood," I said back, my mother gave me a disapproving look.
"The young mistress is going against her elders orders, would mistress like Kreacher to take away her food?" Kreacher said from next to my mother.
"No kreacher it's fine," my mother said patting his head.
"How about werewolves? How do you feel about them? If they had pure-blood I bet they'd be fine!" I snapped stabbing my potato. Sirius gave me a scared look before staring at his plate.
"Werewolves are worse than Mud-bloods, they are vile, horrible and disgusting monsters," my mother said. I clenched my fist around my fork, I hated my parents but this was too far.
"I bet you haven't even met one, if you actually did I bet you'd find one nicer than you! Oh wait I forgot everyone is nicer than you!" Everyone stared at me, but I didn't care, my blood was boiling and my head was pounding.
"Lyra Bellatrix black! Go to your room!" My father bellowed. I stared at him before slamming my fork down and storming to my room. The next day I didn't leave my room, Sirius came in with some toast at about ten.
"Hey, you ok?" He said, handing me the toast.
"I hate them," I replied from my bed.
"Well then I doubt you want to hear the news I'm going to give you," he said sitting next to me.
"Let me guess, they're going to ruin my life, oh wait no they're already doing that!" I said savagely.
"You're in the right lines, they want you to marry Lucius Malfoy." I sat up straight, my eyes blazing.
"What!" I yelled.
"Yep and I'm meant to marry Jane Vance."
"I'm gonna kill them," I muttered. We sat there happily insulting our parents and at about seven my father shouted my name.
"Uh, what does he want?" I said getting up.
"Dunno," Sirius replied, as I walked out into the hallway and down to the sitting room."Lyra, we were willing to overlook your rudeness at diner last night, however Regulus has come to us with interesting news," my father said.
"What's that?" I said viciously, Regulus was sitting in an armchair next to the fire.
"Some news that you have been dating a certain Remus Lupin," my mother interjected. I stared at them, horrorstruck, they weren't meant to know what was going to happen? "We have made arrangements for you to marry Lucius Malfoy, a respectable pure-blood."
"We will not tolerate you messing around with a half-blood, so we are going to forbid you to see this Lupin boy," my father said, standing up. I couldn't speak, I just stood there in shock. Then my brain started to work, I wasn't going to listen to them I was going to be with Remus and I don't care what they think.
"No," I said.
"Excuse me?"
"No!" I repeated, "I'm not going to marry Malfoy and I am going to date Remus."
"You will do as you're told, young lady!" My father said menacingly.
"No I won't!" I shouted, he pulled out his wand and so did I.
"Impe-"
"Protago!" I shouted, he'd tried to use the imperious curse on me! He was knocked back. I lifted my shield, my father was fuming.
"Orion, calm down," my mother said, "Lyra you will break off any relationships you had with this Lupin!"
"No!" I shouted and sparks flew from my father's wand, catching the side of my face coursing a gash to appear. I turned on my heel and ran from the room."Lyra? What happened?" Sirius said as I burst into my bedroom.
"They found out and me and Remus," I snapped, "and I'm leaving for Jameses house."
"Oh, right ok, I'll meet you outside in 15 minutes," he replied sweeping out of my room. I threw things into my trunk, I tore down posters and stuffed them in bags, there was splatters of blood on my robes and bags but I didn't care, I was so angry.
I met Sirius outside and we started to walk down the road in silence, we stopped about a mile away from the house. Sirius flung out his right arm and a purple buss came screeching to a halt. We boarded and payed the conductor.
"How did they find out?" Sirius asked me.
"Regulus told them," I replied as we sat down.
"Oh, ok," he said, "your wound is still bleeding, do you want me to help?"
"No I'll do it later," I said as I felt blood running down my face.
"Ok, I sent an owl to James and he said that we could stay as long as we wanted." I nodded and stared out the window."Here we go, you two it's your stop," the conductor said, and me and Sirius jumped out with our trunks and bags. James lived in a country manor of some sort, it was in the country and it was almost as big as a mansion. Me and Sirius hauled our stuff up the path. I knocked on the door and Jameses mother opened the door, she had long straight black hair, which was greying slightly, blue eyes and a kind face.
"James told us," she said beaming, then she saw my cheek, "good gracious! What happened Lyra?"
"My father got a bit angry," I replied as James appeared behind her. Mrs Potter healed my wound but it left a faded scar to match the ones Greyback gave me, she treated me and Sirius kindly, like a mother.
