A month later

"Its not a date Dan, shut up."

"So you've said. But-"

"Dan."

"But," Dan continues anyway, "to me taking your husband out to dinner is a date." Dan protests. Phil was taking Dan out to dinner for one reason and one reason only, Dan had gotten a promotion. Dan insisted it wasn't a big deal but Phil persisted that they go out to celebrate.

"We are only married because we both got drunk in Vegas. Otherwise this would not be happening and we wouldn't know each other." Phil's knuckles were white as he held on tightly to the steering wheel. Ever since they entered the car Dan kept bring up his theory that Phil was taking him on a date, which he was not. Phil figured it was part of some phase that appeared when Dan announced he was "over Matt". He had gone through many different phases such as getting emotional whenever he saw a couple anywhere, begging Phil to go to gay bars with him (which Phil denied and Dan never ended up going), and now this one, trying to turn everything Phil did for Dan into some proclamation of love. Phil figured it had to do with him missing romantic gestures made by (you guessed it) Matt.

"I'm offended Phil, truly offended." Dan says, putting his hand against his chest to fake how 'hurt' he was by Phil's statement. Phil just rolled his eyes and looked at the road before him. "Where are we going again?"

"A chinese place downtown. I've been there once before, the food is amazing and the price is reasonable. Is that okay?" Phil stops at a light.

"Yes of course, chinese food is one of my favorite kinds of food." Dan smiles and licks his lips as he thinks about all different kinds of chinese food. "Thanks again for all this, you really didn't need to. For me staying with you is good enough." He admits.

Phil cracks a smile. "Well in that case we might as well head back-"

"But Chinese food is also really nice after getting my promotion!" Dan flails his hands around and Phil laughs, his head shaking back and forth.

"I was joking, I love Chinese food as well. I would only turn this car around if something caught on fire and we were in danger." Phil laughs, looking over at Dan to see his shocked expression turn into a smile.

"Oh." Dan chuckles and shakes his head as well. "I didn't take you as a jokester. You've been deadly serious ever since I meet you." Dan admits.

"Well, I'm usually more of a joker when I don't have the stress of having a pregnant sister, a husband who I barely know, and an ex-boyfriend who is still living in the area."

"Reasonable." Dan leans back in his chair. "On the subject of Jane I-"

"We're here!" Phil cuts him off and points at the little place right in front of them. "Look, they even have a panda statue! That wasn't there last time I was here."

"Wow." Dan lets out the comment in a breath of air as he stares at the place. It's a lot bigger than he imagined and looked like it was straight out of China. "This looks amazing!" He lets his thought drift out of his mouth as he stares in amazement.

"I know, guess it's just something you'll have to add on the 'reasons why I have a great husband' list." Phil jokes, giving Dan a light punch on the arm.

"You joke but I actually have a list."

"Mm!" Dan hums in pleasure as his taste buds are filled with the delicious sensation of all the sauces that the chicken is coated in.

"Good?"

"Great!" Dan smiles and pokes two pieces onto his fork before shoving them into his mouth. "I believed you when you told me this was good but I never, could never have imagined how good it really is." Dan smiles, cheeks caving in on themselves to create dimples and wrinkles forming around his eyes.
