So after the picnic with Shadow we talked for a little about birthdays. How he celebrated them with Maria, and how I celebrated them...even though I barely did. Then we looked up at the stars. Turns out there was a meteor shower that night, so each time one passed by, I made a wish; "May this never end" was one, "May all dreams come true" was another, and the last was, "May my father hear me now when I say this. 'I don't need you'." Yes, it was harsh, but I didn't need him. Hell, I didn't even remember him.

Soon, my eyes slipped into a sleep, and I closed them and cuddled into a ball like a baby bear cub.

The next thing I knew I was in my bed at home. Did Shadow bring me home last night? If he did he didn't have to do that....

I got up and opened my bedroom door, seeing everyone hustling around the house with pool stuff.

"What's going on?" I asked, rubbing my eyes and yawning.

"Aw darn. The surprise is ruined," Amy sighed.

"What surprise?"

"We were going to take you to the beach so you woke up in paradise," Silver added, packing a towel in his bag.

"No offense....but that's kinda creepy..." I stated.

"Told you," Knuckles mentioned, leaning on the arm of the couch.

"Well we're already ready, so get on your bathing suit and let's go!" Amy cried.

"I have to tell mom we're going."

"Already done," Sonic answered, rushing into the house. "Hey we have ourselves a 14 year old! Have you grown?"

"Shut up, Sonic," I giggled. "Lucky for you I'm short enough where I can't stomp on you,"

Shadow chuckled in the background. I smiled.

"Like you could smush me. I'm the fastest thing here!"

"Ya, whatever." I looked over to Shadow and winked, then went to get on my bathing suit.

The beach was quiet and peaceful that morning. The sea breezes whipped my hair back and forth as I walked along the sand bar. I kinda felt like a super model. You know...Blond haired girls along the beach with wet baggy men's button-up shirts, they're hair blowing in the wind? Ya..you get the point.

Amy, Cream, Tails, and Cheese were down at the other side of the beach passing around a rainbow striped ball. But I still strode alone along the sandbar, staring at the distant ocean waves.

"It's not a terrible view..." Shadow peeped next to me.

"When-When did you get here?"

"Oh..okay..."

"Ivy...about last night..."he started saying quietly.

"Say no more. It's alright. I want to thank you for that. It was...lovely."

He smiled and I sat down on the sandbar, the salt water surrounding me.

Shadow sat down also...but hesitantly.

I dug my toes into the sand and let my fingers slip into the sand behind me. The waves lapped over them and I was in my own little world for a second.

I looked over to see Shadow uncomfortably staring at the water around him.

"Shadow," I giggled. "Don't be afraid of the water..."

"Afraid...of water?"

"Relax. Here..." I wiggled myself over to Shadow's feet and reached for his shoe. He yanked it back.
