Surprise

Isang linggo na ang lumipas. Hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin mawala sa isip ko ang sinabi ni Dante. He's going to fix us? Anong fix ang pinagsasabi niya? Don't tell me he's still after me!

"Catalina."

Agad akong napatingin sa harap. I saw Mama looking at me with worried face. And now, I have another problem. I didn't know how to open up with them about my memory with Dante. Isa pa, I'm waiting for them to actually tell me first before I open up with them about it. Kasi hanggang ngayon, parang tinatago pa rin nila sa akin si Dante. Kahit na alam ko naman.

At talagang kinuntsaba pa nila si Jake! Akala talaga nila hindi ko malalaman.

"Catalina, kanina ka pa kinakausap ni Papa," saad ni kuya sa aking tabi.

Mabilis ko namang binalingan si Papa na nakatingin sa akin ngayon. He looked calm but it was making me nervous. Masyado yata akong nag spaced out kakaisip sa lalaking iyon!

"Sorry, pa. What is it again?"

He smiled and pointed my plate with open hands.

"Eat. You're spacing out too much, may problema ba?"

Umiling ako saka awkward na tumawa. I just wanted to get over with this. My eyes darted to the new comer. My eyes widened and I gasped, surprised by his sudden visit.

Nginitian niya ako saka lumapit sa upuan ni mama upang makipag-beso. Papa just nodded and pointed the seat next to my mother.

"Salamat at pinaunlakan mo ang aming alok."

Umiling lang siya saka tumawa. "No problem, tito."

Nakatingin lang ako sa kaniya nang nilapag niya ang napkin sa kaniyang paa. I waited for him to look at me but he refused to do so. Ni hindi ko nga napansin na may nakahanda palang dining set para sa kaniya. This set-up was carefully done by my parents! How could I not see this coming?

"Really, thank you so much for coming over, Kieran." Papa insisted.

I looked at him.

"What's this all about, Pa?"

He ignored me just like how Jake is ignoring me right now. Hindi makapaniwalang tumingin ako kay kuya at kay mama. May alam ba sila rito? I mean, there's no harm inviting him here but the way they act right now makes me anxious!

Hindi ko na nagawang magalaw ang aking pagkain. Paano nila nagagawa ito sa'kin?

At first, they only discussed about business and politics. And there, I sat in silence. Contemplating whether I should tell them what I'm feeling but I'm like a wind there. Easily ignored.

"Of course, the merge will probably put an end to the threats. After all, the business is too powerful."

Merge? What merge? Bakit feeling ko naiiwan ako?

"Your family must've been so proud of you," mama said out of nowhere. Jake smiled at her and nodded in response.

Hindi makapaniwalang binitiwan ko ang kubyertos sa aking mga kamay at tiningnan sila isa-isa. Feeling ko pinagkakaisahan nila ako.

"Parte pa ba ako ng pamilya?" I asked, gritting my teeth in annoyance. I focused my look at Jake who was now looking at me. Good. I got your attention now. "And you, anong ginagawa mo rito nang walang pasabi sa akin?"

When I took a final breath, annoyed. I finally stood up, it caused a creaking sound caused by the friction of my chair to the floor.
