"Hey!" I shouted as I walked after Bellamy. He didn't listen and kept walking. "Bellamy!" Now he turned around to face me, "how are we gonna take these off?" I asked holding out my arm with the wristband and shook it.
"I dunno." He said and tried to turn around again, but I grabbed his wrist.
"I was serious." I said told him, "I want to help."
"Good." He simply said and turned around again. Man this boy as no patience.
"If..." I said and he turned back, "if you make me a promise." I folded my arms over my chest.
"Call it, Queen."
"You need to promise me that I can be you second."
"My second?" He asked confused.
"Yes. It means: if something happens to the leader, their second becomes the leader. So if something happens to you, I'll become the leader. And I'll always stay at your side." He thought for a moment before saying: "okay. But don't stand in my way. And if you dare to disobey me, you're out and I find someone else."
"So we got a deal?" I asked holding out my hand.
"Deal." He said shaking it.
"And now I'm going to find away to get these damn wristbands off." I looked at my bracelet as he gave an agreeing nod. I walked away, but I could still feel Bellamy's eyes on my... bum."Well done, Fox." I said highfiving the girl. She was the next one that took off her wristband.
"Thanks for finding a way to get these things off." She replied smiling. I indeed found a way to do it. Now Murphy and some other boys were taking off wristbands around the bonfire. Night had already fallen so fast. Some didn't take the wristband off, this was the biggest group. But the delinquents that did take it off were happily received by me. "No problem." I told Fox"Who's next?" Bellamy shouted at the crowd.
"Let's take these damn things off!" I edited shouting. Bellamy and I were strong together. Like a team, but nothing else. No one dared to disobey us. But if they did, they had to deal with Murphy, and believe me: you don't want that. But anyways, what's a team when you're starving? Maybe Clarke was right somewhere. The hungrier we'll get. I thought about what Clarke said about Mount Weather, and about the Ark that needed to come down. I felt my wrist grew heavier, when I looked at it I saw the little holes, where the needles once were, it was all red. What will my father think when he sees that my wristband is out? He will think that I'm dead. He was broken after the lost of my mother, and now he is going to think he lost his daughter. What hell am I thinking? He is dead in a few months anyways. And why would he care about a murderer?
I was snapped out of my thoughts when I saw Wells walking over to Bellamy. "What the hell are you doing?" Wells asked him.
"We're liberating ourselves," Bellamy replied, pushing back a boy who wanted to help him, "what does it look like?"
"It looks like you're trying to get us all killed." Wells said he took a step towards Bellamy.
"No, it looks like freedom," I said standing next to Bellamy, "something the Chancellor of Earth will never understand."
"Listen," Wells said, now talking to the crowd, "the communication system in dead. These wristbands are all we've got. Take them off and the Ark will think we're dying, that it's not safe for them to follow."
"That's the point, Chancellor." Bellamy interrupted, "we can take care of ourselves," he looked around for a second, "can't we?" "Yeah!" We cheered (that's the other Delinquents and me).
"Think this is a game?" Wells asked Bellamy, "those aren't just our friends and our parents up there-"
"Your father FLOATED most of our parents!" I shouted at him and folded my arms over my chest.
"Still, there are people up there who can help us. Like doctors and engineers," Wells snapped back, "I don't care what he tells you, all of you," Wells looked around, "we won't survive here on our own. Besides, if it really is safe, how could you not want the rest of our people to come down." It was now up to Bellamy to talk: "my people already are down. Those people," Bellamy pointed at the sky, "locked my people up. Those people... killed my mother for the crime of having a second child. Your father did that." Wells was quiet for a second, before defending his father, as always: "my father didn't write the laws."
"No, he enforced them. But not anymore. Not here. Here there are no laws," Bellamy said, some cheered some listened carefully, "here... we do whatever the hell we want, whenever the hell we want." More and more started cheering, "now, you don't have to like it Wells. You can even try to stop it, change it, kill me. You know why?" He paused for a spilt second before saying: "whatever the hell we want."
"Whatever the hell we want!" I shouted over and over again and the whole crowd cheered with me.
