Wells was digging graves. Graves for the two boys that died during the landing.
"You can do whatever the hell you want," I said walking over to him, "and you are digging graves."
"It's a honor full thing to do," Wells said, laying down the shovel, "something you'll never understand, honor." He grabbed the clothes of the boys and walked back towards camp."What happened to us?" I said to Wells, who was clearly not in the mood, "I mean: we were friends, until you got me arrested, not to mention Clarke's father..."
"I don't want to talk about this, Olivia." He told me, "it's easy: you are into guys like Bellamy, I'm not, for example. We were always friends, because Clarke was our common friend and our fathers wanted us too." He kept walking, until I stopped him by pulling his wrist, "I'm not that into Bellamy." I told him.
"Oh, then it just seemed like that yesterday night." He rolled his eyes, "remember? After you suddenly disappeared." he almost sounded jealous to be honest.
"We were just exploring the forest." I snapped back.
"I thought he wanted to explorer something else."
"Were you spying on us, Wells?"
"No. I walked by after someone took off my wristband." he said taking a step back, "you need to be careful with guys like Bellamy. We may not be friends anymore, but that doesn't mean I stopped caring about you."
"You..." I started with wide eyes, "care?"
"Actually I do." He said, "I care about you and Clarke. We were best friends, remember?" I was quietly taking in his words. He said one last thing before walking away again: "you don't have to be like each other to be friends. That's what I liked about you. But I did got you arrested and it was my fault. It is my fault you are down here. And I excepted that you will never forgive me for that."
"You're right," I said avoiding his eyes, "I can't forgive you." He nodded. Wells knew I was going to say that, and he accepted that. Now we both walked back to camp. It was a mess, but it did look like a fun one in my eyes. Wells was thinking the opposite of course. Some boys were chasing each other, a couple made out in the bushes and it was a mess in general. Bellamy was no where in sight, which clearly calmed Wells, and Murphy was one of the chasing boys. We finally reached the Drop Ship. "Hey, where did you get the clothes from?" A boy asked Wells.
"I buried the two kids that died during the landing." Wells replied. The boy came closer and looked at the clothes Wells was holding.
"Smart," he said, "I'll take it from here. There is always a market-" he tried to take the clothes.
"We share based on need," Wells said holding the clothes some tighter, "just like back home."
"You still don't get it, do you Chancellor?" I heard Bellamy say, as he walked out of the Drop Ship. He was shirtless and closely followed by a girl, she was also shirtless, but still wore an Ark-bra. Damn Bellamy looks good, I thought, until the girl kissed him and walked away. Then I only could think of: slut.
"This is home now," Bellamy went on, "your father rules no long apply." Bellamy took one of the t-shirts in Wells's hands, "enjoyed your view, Queenie?" Bellamy asked as he put on a shirt.Wells wanted to step protectively in front of me, but I held him back. "Where were you anyways?" Bellamy asked me.
"Somewhere else, while you were screwing that slut." I replied, "do you even know her name?"
"No, but she knows mine now." He said, I rolled my eyes. Wells threw the clothes on the ground, and were fast picked up by other delinquents. "Is this what you want?" Wells asked, "chaos?"
"What's wrong with a little chaos?"After Bellamy said that we heard a girl scream. "What the hell?" I said as we ran towards the source of the noise. It was one of the delinquents. Murphy held her above a small bonfire. The flames almost touched her skin. "Murphy, Let go!" I shouted at the boy.
"If we want the Ark to think that the Ground is killing us," Murphy said still holding the girl, "I say we should suffer a little first."
"Murphy, you little shit, let the girl go." I told him.
"I don't take orders from you, Queen."
"Yes, you do." Bellamy backed me up, "because Queenie is my second. And if anyone has a problem with that, they have to deal with me." My eyes flickered from Bellamy to the girl; she still had her wristband.
"I never said suffering was a bad idea," I said sitting down in front of the girl, "unless you want to take that bracelet off..."
"Never!" She spit in my face, I stood up again and looked at Murphy.
"Do it." I told him and Murphy pushed her the girl painfully slow down. The flames almost made contact with her skin. "Are you crazy?" Wells shouted pushing past me. Bellamy caught me just before I fell.Wells pushed Murphy off the girl, who ran away as fast as she could. "Thanks." I whispered to Bellamy, "you can let go now." He immediately did after noticing he still held me.
"Don't push me!" I said pushing Wells back. An idea popped into my head, "hey, Murphy! I think it's a fair fight now!" Wells looked scared from me to Murphy.
"Bellamy, you can stop this." Wells said.
"Stop this?" Bellamy replied, "I'm just getting started." Bellamy took a step back and pulled me with him, because immediately Murphy hit Wells full in his face. The crowd started cheering fight fight fight! Wells hit back, so Murphy hit again. Wells was pushed to the ground with Murphy on him, who hit him multiple times before Wells rolled them over. He hit Murphy a couple times and got off him. "Don't you see you can't control this?" Wells asked Bellamy, who didn't reply."You're dead." Murphy said as he stood up with his knife in his hand.
"Wait," Bellamy said as he held Murphy back, "fair fight." He gave Wells a knife. Then Bellamy walked back to the spot next to me. "You need one too." He gave me a handmade knife, made of metal from the Drop Ship.
"Thanks." I said giving him a slight smile, "let's hope I don't have to use it." I lifted my shirt a bit so the handle of my gun was showing.
"Where did you get that from?" He asked and felt his hip if his own gun was still there, and it was.
"I stole it, while I hugged my father one last time. He always has gun." I looked back at the fight.
"Smart.""This is for my father." Murphy said and cut Wells' arm. He tried to do it again, but Wells turned them around and held the knife on Murphy's throat.
"Wells!" Clarke shouted as she hurrying over, "let him go." Wells was closely followed by Spacewalker. Monty helped Octavia walking. Something must have happened.
"Octavia!" Said Bellamy helping his sister, "are you alright? Where is the food?"
"And Goggle-Boy?" I asked helping Murphy up after Wells dropped him on the ground.
"We didn't make it to Mount Weather." Spacewalker said sitting down on a rock.
"What the hell happened out there?" Bellamy said, he sounded angry.
"We were attacked." Clarke stated.
"Attacked?" I asked in disbelief, "by what?"
"Not what," Spacewalked replied, "who. Turns out, when the last man from the Ground died on the Ark, he wasn't the last Grounder."
"It's true," Clarke said, "everything we thought we knew about the Ground is wrong. There are people here. Survivors. The good news is that means we can survive. Radiation won't kill us."
"Yeah," said Finn, "the bad news is the Grounders will."
"Wait, Groundes?" I said, but something else came up, "where is Goggle-Boy?"
"Jasper was hit." Clarke answered me, "they took him." Then Clarke's eyes fixed on my missing wristband and then on Wells's. "Where are your wristbands?"
"Ask Bellamy and Olivia." Wells said and nodded once towards us.
"How many?" Clarke asked and Murphy replied: "twenty-four and in counting."
"You idiots," Clarke breathed, "life support on the Ark is failing. That's why they brought us down here. Olivia you knew this. How can you not want the Ark down?"
"Well," I started, "there's one question I've been asking myself, lately: what if the Ground wasn't survivable? Then they sent us all down here to die," I was talking towards the group, "and why? Because they think we're criminals. But I say different! We are fighters! Survivors. We don't need them. We're strong. The Grounders should worry about us!" The crowd started cheering. Clarke walked away angrily. An arm wrapped around my shoulders. It was Bellamy. "Couldn't say it any better, Queen."
