Bella's P.O.V
Officer Hale walks in his office and gently closes the door behind him. I give Carlisle a pleading look, asking him if this is really necessary and the judging by the look he gives me back, it is. I sigh and look down at my joined hands on my lap, I wish it was Edward who was sitting here next to me, but knowing him, the answer would have been the same.
"So, Bella, Carlisle notifies me you want to file for a restraining order," Officer Hale said as he sat down. "Mind telling about it?"
"It's against Charlie Swan."
"Your father?"
"You mean the man you tried and eventually threw me to and almost got me killed? Yes, that one."
"Bella," Carlisle warned with a stern tone.
I sigh. "Yes, that's the man."
Officer Hale nods. "Can you tell me why?"
Is he fucking serious? Why would he think I'd want a restraining order against that man?
"Like what the hell do you think?"
Carlisle said my name under his breath and nodded to Officer Hale. Officer Hale sat back in his chair and pointed at the tape recorded I did not notice he placed on the table moments ago.
"I need you to tell me why," he said calmly. Why is he acting all calm? Why is everyone acting so calm? "Why do you want to file for an restraining order?"
"Well, it surely isn't because I think it's gonna do anything," I say sarcastically. Luckily, neither of them said anything about my tone. "Charlie is more powerful than your entire police department put together, if you think that a little piece of paper will keep him from coming for me, then you're out of your goddamn mind."
"Charlie can't do anything, the consequences-"
"There are no consequences for that man!" I snap. "He is a drug lord. Yes, my father is a drug lord and one of the biggest, baddest one. He's the buggy man, basically. Which means he can come and go whenever he pleases and no one will ever take notice." I sit back and sigh. "He's pissed at me because I was the reason my mother killed his wife and I didn't die when he wanted to me to die. And..." I pause, debating whether or not I should continue where I'm going. It's probably not a good idea.
Officer Hale notices my moment of hesitation. "And...?"
I clear my throat, coming to the conclusion that it is in fact a really bad idea.
"Nothing. That's all."
"Bella," Carlisle says in a warning tone. I close my eyes and try my best to ignore him. "Bella, tell the truth. You promised."
I sigh.
"Edward won't be happy-"
"I know he won't," I reply and shake my head. I should have kept my damn mouth shut. Both Carlisle and Hale are looking at me expecting my answer and I know damn well I'm not getting out of this. "I might have done something..."
"Something like what?" Hale pressures.
I groan. "I might have done something to piss him off back when I was in Ireland."
Hale leans forward and and gives me an expecting look. "What did you do?"
"I... I sort of gave the address to all the locations he keeps his money and drugs to the local police so they could catch them."
Hale quickly pulls out a pen and paper and quickly starts scribbling things down. "How did you come upon that kind of information?"
"James did a little investigation."
