Chapter 5

KATNISS'S POV:

I go to the meadow but there is no one there and just as I'm about to leave I notice a big pile of leaves that wasn't there yesterday when I came here, so I go over to it and start moving the leaves. Underneath them is a small mound of dirt which I start shovelling up with my hands. When I've dug about half a metre in the ground I find a brown package with my name on it. Why would Peeta hide this from me? Then, I realise it's probably from that girl Claudia, he was probably worried about what would be in it and how it could affect me. I feel the same way but I need to know what was so important that someone would come all the way from the Capitol to District 12 to deliver.

I rip the brown paper off and find a note that reads:

Dear Katniss,

Look at the last page. I thought you should know. Call me on 0497 212 486 if you need any help.

Under the note is a book titled 'Capitol Prisoners'. Is she crazy? Why would I want to know about Snow's prisoners? Even though I don't want to, I open the book to the last page and find this:

DARIUS - Avox. Attended to Katniss Everdeen before the 75th Annual Hunger

Games. Tortured for 17 days near previous victor Peeta Mellark as way

to disturb him. Killed at lab on the 18th day of torture.

LAVINIA - Avox. Attended to Katniss Everdeen before the 74th and 75th Annual

Hunger Games. Electrocuted to death in lab on 1st day of torture.

ANNIE CRESTA - Victor. Completely mad. Taken prisoner as a way to send a message to

past victor Finnick Odair. Rescued by soldiers of District 13.

JOHANNA MASON - Victor. Taken out of the 75th Annual Hunger Games arena. Tortured

by being electrocuted after being soaked in water. Rescued by soldiers

of District 13.

PEETA MELLARK - Victor. In love with Katniss Everdeen. Taken out of the 75th Annual

Hunger Games arena. Tortured as a way to break Katniss Everdeen.

Hijacked. Rescued by soldiers of District 13.

CINNA - Stylist of Katniss Everdeen in the 74th and 75th Annual Hunger

Games. Beaten bloody in front of Katniss Everdeen immediately

before she entered the 75th Annual Hunger Games arena. Shipped to

London, England. Left there forever.

I can't believe this. Cinna might still be alive! I try to stand up when I feel something move inside me and I realise my baby has just kicked for the first time! They must be excited about the Cinna news too.

I race into the woods, sit down on a fallen down tree and start crying tears of joy. I can't believe that Cinna is alive. I have to go find him. But where is London, England? I've never heard of this place. Even though I don't want to, I head back home to ring Claudia for help...
