A week later...
Annie's POV
Sitting on the window sill in the kitchen, my journal resting in my lap, Eli's leather jacket was underneath it. The scenery outside the window was absolutely beautiful.
It was barely dawn and the sun was just peeking over the village wall, casting Golden rays of sunshine upon the land. The fields and trees were calm, only being disrupted by the slight breeze that became present every once in awhile. With the the window open, the cool air gently blew my hair across my shoulders, my thoughts swarming my brain like hornets.
I looked down into the streets to see two girls sitting there talking. They must have been close friends. The sight reminded me of something. A memory of a conversation that Garroth had told me about when I was barely 12.

"Garroth, where's Annie?""She's with Chelsea, father."
"Hmm, Chelsea, isn't she that orphan girl who lives in the alleyway across town?"
"Yes father."
"I really wish Annie would hang out with some of the girls who are higher status and are a more suitable fit for her."
"But, father, she and Chelsea have been friends for years. Plus, Annie has said many times that she does not like those girls."
"What did she say about them?"
"I believe she said that they were "stuck up"."
"I'm going to have to talk some sense into that girl. She's a Ro'meave for Irene's sake. She needs to learn how to act like one."
"..."
"Now go get her."
"Yes father."

Eli's POVI woke up early that morning and quickly stretched before getting ready. Changing out of my pajamas and into my guard uniform, I sneaked out of my room and down stairs. Getting downstairs, I darted out the door, closing it with no sound but a soft click. I wanted to hang out with Annie that day so maybe I would forget about Trish and how she...kissed me.
I still hadn't told Annie, and didn't intend to anytime soon. I honestly wanted to keep it a secret. Then again, I wasn't about to tell Trish the whole "I'm in love with Annie" thing. My reasoning? Well, Trish seems to be and can be a little "love crazy" sometimes and if she finds out there was anything keeping us apart? She would most likely get rid of it. Which is one of the only reasons why I'm slightly scared of her.
I walked into the woods to do a quick patrol, I actually waited to let the sun come up. Luckily, when I got back, the sun had fully risen and the town was starting to wake up. I walked to the guest house, quietly and with as much swiftness that would not seem concerning or suspicious while waving to some citizens, where Annie was staying and knocked on the door. She didn't answer but, Lady Katelyn did.
"Um, good day Lady Katelyn, by any chance is Lady Annie here?" I said semi-formally.
"First off, my names Katelyn and hers Annie, none of this 'Lady' business, second, yes, yes she is. I'll gladly call her down," she replied with a smile.
So they both hate being called 'lady' interesting. The thought coursing into my mind.
She turned to the staircase and yelled with mischief filling her voice. "Annie! Get cho butt down here! Your dang boyfriend's here!"
"KATELYN!" Annie shouted from upstairs before she marched down the stairs, her face with the look of annoyance.
She seemed to smile, though when she saw me and began walk towards the door slightly quicker. She was wearing a red t-shirt with my leather jacket over it, a pair of old jeans and some worn down, old leather boots. Her hair was in a simple braid.
"Hey, Eli," happiness running through not only her face but voice as well making the room seem to ooze in it.
"Hey, Annie," I replied.
"I'll leave ya two 'lovebirds' alone," Katelyn said teasingly as she walked out of the room.
Annie rolled her eyes before she walked out the door and closed it behind her before she looked up and smiled. What a pretty smile.
"So, why is it that you at my door first thing in the morning?" She asked with a smile, it seeming glued upon her face.
I gave a slight laugh of embarrassment before saying, "I was thinking that we could hang out...all day today."
"Sure!" She said smiling as she grabbed my jacket sleeve and pulled me towards the front gate of Nahakra.
We went into the woods and talked for a while before we found a clearing with a river going through it.
"This is quite...beautiful," Annie said as she took in her surroundings, a look of wonder and awe replacing her smile.
"Yeah, it is," I said as I sat down against an old, perhaps oak, tree.
Annie sat beside me and took ahold of my hand. She looked at me without hesitation and smiled to which I smiled back. She made me happy. I wanted to be with her, not Trish. I found myself thinking about Trish again. I thought about telling Annie what had happened but instantly cleared the thought from my mind.
Then, I thought about telling Trish that I loved Annie, but instantly cleared that idea from my head as well. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"Are you okay?" Annie asked, worriedness and curiosity now the thing that took over her sweet, sweet voice.
"Yeah I'm fine," I replied
"Are you sure?" She asked with a more concerned tone.
A giving up sigh came from me. One that could give a speech. "Honestly? No."
"What's the matter?" She asked.
I took sharp breath through my nose hoping she would not notice my worry... I hope she didn't... I was not going to tell her. Trying to think of another excuse was difficult but before I knew it, the words slipped out without meaning.
"I kissed Trish."
