Annie's POV
"W-what?" I feel my eyes widen like saucers as I turn my body towards his, astonishment, anger and...disappointment clear on my face.
Eli stared at me, his face filled with guilt, anger only rippling towards himself. Taking a deep breath, he repeats himself, trying to stay as calm as he could.
"I-I kissed Trish."
Ouch.
I felt like I had been punched in the gut or, for a better definition, like train hit me face on and then through me into piranha infested waters only to be spit out and be put into a volcano where father would scold me. Face heating up, eyes glazing over with unshed tears. Standing quickly and pausing for a moment or two I remove 'Eli's' leather jacket and almost toss it in his face.
He stood up quickly after me and reached for my hand. I stepped back, feeling the hot pang of tears in the corner of my eyes. He looked from my face to the jacket and to my feet, how I had stepped back, back up to my jacket. Gently, he took the jacket from my hand. Turning to begin the trek back towards the village, Eli stops me, me pausing for a moment.
"Annie! W-wait...I-I..."
"You what?" I snapped suddenly, tears rolling down my face and landing on the ground with a simple drop, barely audible.
Staying quiet, he steps forward and touches my shoulder, gripping it slightly. I shrug it away before walking away from him, once more, and begin quickening my pace. This time, Eli didn't try to stop me.
Once I got quite a good distance away from the clearing I started to cry. I cried and cried and cried and seemed until I felt like I couldn't cry or scream anymore. Until I felt no more tears rolling down my cheeks and instead felt the tear stains. Until I felt my throat burn with harm. Until I felt empty.
Once entering Nahakra village I am quick to run to the guest house and enter, tears stains visible down my cheeks. Katelyn was at the table, reading a book. Glancing from the top she looks up and gives me a concerned look.
"What's the matter? Where's Eli?" She asked, worry etched in her voice.
I tried to cry again but nothing came but empty gags and dry heaving, me trying to gulp down air like a lion with a gazel.
"H-he kissed T-Trish," I said through my gasp of air, which were helping little to none.
Katelyn walked towards me and pulled me into a hug. This time tears come out, small and few. Katelyn squeezed me, as if trying to get rid of the pain. It takes a while before she begins to lead me towards the couch and sitting me down.
Quick to get to the kitchen she comes back, a plate filled with blueberry muffins.
"I listened to your advice." she said with a small smile, trying to lighten up the mood.
I smiled back, a small and meek one, and take a muffin. Taking a muffin for herself, she turns it around, examining and studying it, she places the plate on the table before us.
"You know An, if you want me to, I can beat him up." Attempting to smile but it coming out as frown. I risk glance at Katelyn, seeing a scowl upon herself.
"No Katelyn, I'm fine...just...heartbroken." I replied, a sigh coming after.
"What you just said clarifies that you aren't fine." she said, anger etched into her voice, it coming out like venom.
"I'm fine I just need some time." I stated as I stood and walked towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Katelyn asked, anger replaced with worry and curiosity.
