5 days later...
Annie's POV

Things had finally got back to normal. Well, as normal as they could be, my life really was never normal. It was late in the afternoon and the evening patrol was just starting, I had taken the chance to volunteer to do the patrol alone, again.

To be honest, I really needed some time to think, to be alone, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity...or, more likely, the only.

I went into the thick woods and started my patrol. Taking the chance, I look around the stillhouse of area known as my escape. The trees' leaves were a mixture of orange and brown and most were either scattered across the green grass of the forest floor, atop trees in their thrones or hanging on by the stem. Autumn was just arriving.

The cool air brushed against my shoulders, I could feel a leaf fall into my hair and, looking up, the clouds covered the sun just enough to sprinkle dark shadows throughout the ground in front of me and under my feet.

I stopped walking for a moment and closed my eyes. Taking deep breaths in through my nose out through my mouth, chest rising and falling into a rhythm, I calm myself. Nature is my therapy. I did this a few times before I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head and causing me to fall to the ground.

Dizzy for the moments afterward, I recovered quickly. The pain in my head quickly turned from a sharp instant to a dull throbbing in moments. Please tell me that a kid just threw a rock at me.

Just in case, I reached my arm around to grab my bow and started to slowly raise to my knees, but was instantly kicked in the back of my arm, it being pinned before me, bow still on my back and hands empty. By the amount of strength I felt holding my arm to the ground, I was pretty sure this wasn't a kid, if not this was one strong kid. I felt my breathing quicken, coming out in puffs of air, my brain rushing with thousands of thoughts, adrenaline pumping through my veins, fueling me.

I turned my head to the side to look over my shoulder. Determination filled me to see who it was. To see who had pinned me down. I was half expecting it to be Katelyn, pulling a joke on me, but when I caught a glimpse of the person, I was utterly confused. Trish was standing there, her eyes filled with fury, lips curled into a despicable smile. The sole of her boot was digging into my skin, leaving a temporary imprint of the design. She made direct eye contact with me and laughed. That laugh... sent chills down my spine.

"Did you really think I would let you take him from me?" She said, her voice giving the impression that she had gone insane. And honestly? At this moment? I would believe it.

"Wh-what? I...I-I don't know what you're t-talking about, who did I take from you?" The words fumbling out of my mouth nervously as I tried to think up an escape plan in my head.

She laughed again, this time as if I was missing something obvious.

"You really think I'm that dumb? Dumb enough to fall for your little 'I'm innocent' trick? Ha!" She said as she pressed her boot even harder onto my arm. It was really starting to hurt.

"I really, have no idea what you're talking about." I replied as I squeezed my eyes in pain.

"You took Eli from me! You tricked him into loving you and ripped my heart out! Now," she said pausing for a moment to laugh that crazy again, "Now you'll pay."

She then took her sword and made a small cut down my arm that she had pinned down. I cried out in pain as I felt sharp sparks of pain continue up my arm and repeating once they reached my shoulder. She then took her foot away from my arm and kicked me in the side. I bit my lip even harder, the skin breaking into a tiny tear and drawing a small amount of blood, before I pushed through pain, and set it to the back of my mind, and stood up. I instantly grabbed my bow off my back, loading an arrow into the drawstring without hesitation. My arm burned like fire and my side was stinging with pain but I was able to ignore it... mostly.

I barely noticed my transformation into my jury form. It was the first time I had seen it. My hair turned from blonde to black, my jury outfit formed more armor around my chest area, front and back, and my eyes mixed blue and red together. I looked almost as if Zane was a girl. Purple particles circle around me as I feel my fear and adrenaline turn to strength, but I knew it wasn't enough.

Trish laughed again and lunged at me, this time aiming to hit my stomach. Not this time.

I jumped, dodging her blade by only a few inches. Unfortunately, I lost grip of my bow and dropped it a few yards in front of me, the arrow launching and digging itself into a tree. I was quick this time to get to my feet and grab my bow once more. Trish, her sinister smile still in place, threw her sword at me, the tip of it grazing my side as I jumped to dodge it.

I landed on my left side, and took a few minutes to notice the sharp pain of the scratch left in my right side. My vision started to go blurry.

I couldn't give up, I had to fight, I thought as I tried to stand up again but failed.

Trish laughed, as if this was a game...and she was winning it.

"All of this fighting, over a boy that you stole from me. It could have been as simple as just giving him up," she said as she walked over to me, all high and mighty, sauntering her hips. "but, I guess we should finish this."

"J-just, just get it o-over w-with," I said weakly, accepting my fate.

"It's so cute when the weak ones give up, I knew you weren't strong enough to fight for him, you're just weak," Trish replied.

She rose up her sword as I looked at her with tear filled eyes. I let out a choked sob as I remembered the last time someone held a sword above me. I lost. I lost the game. My vision was getting blurrier by the minute. Then, out if no wear, a flash of light, blue color, ran in front of me, tackling Trish to the ground.

My vision started to go black, but before it did, I caught a blurry glimpse of a person with black hair and green eyes running towards me. The person took me into their arms and pulled me close to their chest. I heard muffled cries and voices before everything went numb, silent and black.
