Rockpaw woke up in the apprentices den, she yawned as the rhythmic breathing of her siblings next to her made her wish she could just go back to sleep. Her brown and gray tabby pelt began to shine as the sun beamed into Shadowclan's camp. Toadpaw, her brother sat up and stretched. Rockpaw followed him out of the den, Tanglepaw padded sleepily behind her. Rockpaw lifted her nose the the sky and took a deep breath. "I think it's gonna rain soon." She meowed. Toadpaw sniffed the air, "More like a storm." He added. "I got to go, Sandtail told me I was going on the morning patrol, I hope they didn't leave me." Rockpaw rolled her eyes as Toadpaw ran off and peeked into the warriors den and soon after followed his mentor and the rest of the patrol out of camp. Tanglepaw yawned, "C'mon, we're supposed to clean out the elders den for sneaking out yesterday." Tanglepaw dragged her paws over to the elders den. Rockpaw felt ashamed about what she did with her sister, all they wanted to do was see the towleg thing on the border. Rockpaw followed her sister, they were told not to mess with it though. Tanglepaw was already pulling old moss from the elder's nests. Frizfur, a fuzzy fured elder, seemed to be upset about something, his eyes glared off into the distance as he sat on the ground next to his nest as Tanglepaw cleared it out. "Are you okay, Frizfur?" The elder seemed to jump alive as Rockpaw spoke. "I'm fine! Buzz off you piece of mouse-dung excuse for a cat!" He snapped at the young apprentice as he slugged out of the den angrily. Rockpaw turned to her sister with wide eyes. She blinked in confusion and just stood there. "What was that?" She finally said. "I've never seen a cat so upset for no reason!" Rockpaw pushed some moss over to the entrance and flicked her tail for Tanglepaw to come over. They both looked outside the den, Frizfur was arguing with Sunbreeze, the deputy. "Should we go over there?" Tanglepaw asked, "Yeah, grab that moss, we'll say we're going to get more fresh ones and then ask what's happening." Rockpaw grabbed a big clump of moss and nodded as Tanglepaw did the same. The came closer up to the two, "We gotta get out of here! We need to go up! Up!" Frizfur's frantic yelling was enough to make Rockpaw's ears start bleeding, his voice was cracked and high, age took its toll on the once strong warrior. "Please, Frizfur, calm down! Nothing's gonna happen, it's just a storm coming, only a little bit of rain." Sunbreeze seemed uncomfortable, she didn't do well with Frizfur, then again no one really did. She signaled the apprentices over with her tail. "Can you to please get some clean moss for him, make his nest nice and soft. I'm gonna go get Berryheart and see what he can do about this little hissy fit." Frizfur bared his teeth in annoyance and stomped back to his den. "Hurry up with that moss ya' lowlives!" Rockpaw wanted to pounce on him and show him how much of a lowlife she was, that would teach him a lesson. "C'mon, let's go before he starts doing something else stupid." The two ran out quickly, dropping the old moss in a small hole and burying it, they each picked up some fresh moss and pine straw and hurried back to camp. Berryheart was outside the elders den mumbling to himself, the medicine cat seemed concerned. Tanglepaw and Rockpaw rushed over. "We 'bougth 'ome moss." Tanglepaw said with a mouthful of moss. "Ah, yes, make his nest, don't forget Antclaw's nest either." The two apprentices hurried over to the elders den and made the two nests. Rockpaw turned to her sister, and whispered "Do you think Frizfur is sick?" Tanglepaw shrugged. "He's old, his head is just a little messed up." Tanglepaw stretched, "I don't know about you," She turned her head towards the fresh kill pile, "But I'm starving." Rockpaw nodded in agreement. Just as they were about the start eating, Toadpaw came running into camp, the rest of the patrol came in after him, talking quietly among themselves.
