Toadpaw joined his sisters and began to eat. "Anything interesting happen while on patrol?" She asked. Toadpaw shrugged and bit into a frog, "Nothing much, we had to warn some younger Thunderclan apprentices about crossing territory, I threatened to claw their ears right off!" Toadpaw took a big triumphant swipe into the air. Rockpaw rolled her eyes. "I should go see what my schedule for today is, battle training, hunting maybe the next patrol?" Rockpaw whipped her head around and bumped straight into the large russet brown tabby that was Ratnose. "Make that battle training and patrol. Those Thunderclan apprentices weren't alone, there were some warriors who were trying to distract us so they could mark past the border." Ratnose snarled, "Mangy Thunderclan cats don't even need more territory, as far as we know they've got more prey than they know what to do with." Rockpaw nodded in agreement, even though Thunderclan had clearly stated at the last gathering that they lost a good portion of their territory due to the towleg monsters in the meadow near the thunderpath. Rockpaw knew well enough by now not to correct Ratnose, he was always on edge and ready to claw any cats ears right off. She followed him into the training area. "Show me what you remember." Ratnose got in a defensive position. "Try to knock me down." His voice was calmer than normal, Rockpaw felt awkward, knowing there was no way for her small body to knock over a giant dog like cat like Ratnose. Rockpaw got down into a crouch and leapt up into the air, Ratnose got ready to spring forward after her, Rockpaw landed right beside Ratnose as his paws hit the ground. He missed! She dodged him perfectly! Rockpaw quickly ran to the other side of him as he swiped his paw out. Turning around to attack her again, Ratnose stumbled over his own paws and swiped his paw to late. Rockpaw butted his side as he lost balance. She quickly slid underneath him and kicked off his other side. Ratnose fell to the ground as Rockpaw skidded to a stop, dust filled the air around them. Rockpaw felt so powerful, pride ran through her as she saw Ratnose pull himself up. "Who taught you that move?!" Ratnose was furious, Rockpaw blinked in confusion, she just did what her instincts told her to. "No one taught me that I-" Ratnose dug his claws into the ground. "No other cat is to mentor you! I am your mentor, you don't learn moves from your siblings, you don't take tips from other warriors and you don't teach yourself!" Rockpaw felt insulted, she didn't need his help for everything! She bared her teeth. "You can't teach me anything you know because all you ever do is tell me what not to do! How am I supposed to learn the correct way if I'm stuck with a mentor that won't even teach me?!" Rockpaw widened her eyes and shut her mouth, she had just told off her mentor, her very aggressive, independent mentor. His eyes were narrowed and his claws dug into the grass as he spoke, "Go back to camp and get ready for the patrol." Rockpaw ran off towards camp, her ears burnt and her tail flung out behind her, fluffed out. She almost slammed into the camp entrance, skidding up dirt and dust. She took a deep breath, calmed herself down and walked into camp as calmly as she could.
