* Ava’s POV *

“Mummy, does daddy hate us?”

It was one of the questions I didn’t think my little Lily would ask me one day. Yes, Len and I didn’t end up together, and Lily didn’t even get to be with Len, just like how he wanted. He gave child support, though like he promised, but that was that.

He wasn’t there whenever she wasn’t feeling well and just wanted to have some cuddles at home until she feels better. And at some point, she started asking where her dad was, but I couldn’t even tell her that he belongs to her favourite dance group. She always squeals in front of the television, cheering for Justice Crew as if she knew them. Though, it must be the blood connection she feels for Len.

“No Lily, your daddy doesn’t hate you.” I uttered. It was mostly because of me – of what I have done to him – perhaps it was also the reason why he doesn’t want to see Lily, since she was a split version of me.

“But he doesn’t come and visit me. Maybe he doesn’t love me.” Lily frowned at that thought. “My teacher said that a family consists of a mummy and daddy, but I only have a mummy.”

“I can be your daddy, too.” I told her.

“But mummy, you’re a girl.” She exclaimed, laughing. “Only boys can be daddies.” Not all the time, Lily. I thought, but she wouldn’t understand that.

“Mummy, do you think there will be stars tonight?” Lily asked me as she went near the window, looking up the sky.

“Maybe.” I uttered, unsure of it, only because lately it has been raining and the stars were hiding. “Why? Do you want to wish on a star?”

Lily nodded. “I wish Lenny Pearce was my daddy!” I nearly choked hearing that. If only you knew, Lily. “My name would be Lily Anya Ruela Pearce.” My eyes widen at that surname – she even knew Ruela. “Then I’ll be cousins with Xander Reesh and Aston Ryan.” She squealed as I laughed. “Oh, and Harley will be my big brother.”

Now I’m wondering how did she get all these information and managed to memorized them all. But then again, my Lily is so smart. Nothing gets past her.

Laughing at her reaction, Lily frowned again. “It’s not funny, mummy.” Completely shushing up, I nodded. “He’s a cool daddy to Harley. I hope my daddy’s like him.”

And that just made me tear up. If it wasn’t for me leaving, then Lenny wouldn’t even think I didn’t love him anymore.

“Time for bed, Lily.” I uttered as she followed me into her bedroom. Since Lily was born, I moved back to my old apartment, thinking I’ve been a pest to my cousin Chester, though he did offer his house for Lily and I.

“But I haven’t made my wish yet, mummy.” Lily replied, almost begging for me to let her stay until the stars come out.

I’ll try, Lily. I thought. “How about mummy makes that wish for you?” At least, maybe I could introduce her to Len, in some way, to make our little girl happy.

Her eyes widen at that thought and nodded, before jumping towards the bed. Tucking her in, she kissed my nose and giggle. “Don’t forget my wish, mummy. When the stars come out, okay?” I nodded.

Just as Lily had fallen asleep, I went straight to my bedroom and ponder on what I should do. I know Len had decided what he wanted, but I couldn’t just ignore my little girl’s wish. She wanted to meet her dad, and coincidentally, she wanted it to be Len.
