* Lenny’s POV *
Since that day we got home from the hospital, Ava stayed in bed forever, cuddling with our new baby, Lily, and of course, Harley. Just like when she was on bed rest, she has given that huge responsibility to her assistant, Cece, with regards to her store, though she still make sure that she checks on them from time to time. But I guess her priorities have changed since Lily’s birth, wanting to become a hands-on mother.
Frankly speaking, I’d love to stay home too, but as the man of the house, I need to save up for my family, for our future, especially now that we’re starting to get bigger. Although, I was thankful that the group has given John and I some week off to spend time with the family and enjoy the perks of being a dad.
I know it’s not my first time being one, but it would be a first having a girl. Even at this rate, I’m already thinking ahead of wanting to be that protective father hanging out with his little princess and scaring off all her suitors when time comes, but at the same time, I also wanted to be that cool father she wouldn’t be embarrassed to be around with, especially when she gets older, a teenager.
But enough about that, I still have years to relax before it actually happens. And I knew Harley would become that big brother who would always look after his little sister so I have someone to team up with. I’m good with that.
Of course, our families had visited more often now that the baby’s out. It even came to the point that they would look for Lily more than Ava and I, but we weren’t mad about it, because we knew the same thing has been happening to John and Bailey’s humble abode, instead of having their friends and families visit them, they all visit to see the twins.
We still go over our parents house every Sunday to catch up, and since the birth of Lily and the twins Xander and Aston, the gatherings have been entertaining, especially because they have been the topic mostly.
Even at the baby stage, you could already figure out that John’s twins were going to be heaps of naughty boys in the future as they have been always the loud ones, crying every chance they get. The two hated being placed on their cots as they always enjoy being in the arms of some family, swaying them till they fall asleep.
However, John does not like the idea at all, only because he knows the two would stop crying once they feel like they were in Bailey’s arms, or Bailey’s sisters. The guy gets jealous at how it was opposite for me that Lily actually likes to be with me than Ava, and he simply doesn’t get it.
And for that I was thankful for having our sweet little angel, always smiling towards people, making them coo at how adorable she was. Just like her parents, she loves cuddling so we had an easier task. Though, I know you couldn’t control babies not to cry, because at some point, they would want to let it all out, Lily was still the sweetest.
I smiled, remembering all those times she would just stop crying once I carry her in my arms, like I had just washed away all of her bad dreams and replaced it will an abundance of love and care. We were very lucky to have Lily all healthy and happy, even if she came out a month early. The doctors have said it was a miracle she didn’t need any life support.
Though, of course, we still wanted to be careful around her. Perhaps it was what’s stopping Ava from leaving our babies with someone else, even if they were family members who would look after our kids while we work.
“Daddy, I’m hungry.” Harley woke me up from my thoughts as I found Lily already asleep in my arms, after rocking her back to dreamland for ten minutes. After placing her down on her cot, and opening the baby monitor on, I carried my boy out of the room quietly, heading towards the master’s bedroom to check if Ava was up yet.
