Amphere Harrison

My vision is still woozy. Looks like I overslept again. It's morning already, though this time, the sunlight didn't shove my face to wake up. Instead, an adorable face with red eyes is two-inches away from mine. There was a warm soft hand on my forehead that makes me remember how my mother used to treat me when I'm sick. But I'm not sick at all.

"Good morning, Amphy~" It was Airi's cute voice.

"Good morning, Airi." I greeted and smiled.

It took me five whole seconds to analyze the situation. When realization possessed me, I immediately jumped out of my bed and made a whacking karate chop on my dragonoid's forehead! What a way to start your day with a loud bang!

"Uwa!" Airi cried, covering her reddish forehead. "Amphy totally hit me!"

"Come on, we're late again." I said coldly. I ignored her scream, and tolerated what she just did. She always does this kind of thing almost every other day, and I'm tired scolding her over and over and over again. I'll just give her a karate chop whenever she starts doing perverted acts to me in early morning.

We quickly geared up since I woke up twenty minutes later than usual. We just got our toast and got going, rushing to the academy without any talk. Darn Airi. Never waking me up. I use the sunlight as my alarm clock since I'm too lazy setting up one, but she always block the windows...or even my face.

Thankfully, I got myself five minutes before class. The classroom is almost filled up with students. Reina and Rudolf were already here. Of course, we knights conduct separate classes from our dragonoids so I'll never see that annoying Airi for eight hours. At least there's no loudmouth here.

Or so I thought.

"Hey, I heard that Airelina confessed to you last Sunday." Rudolf went in front of my desk and made a grin. "What happened next?"

Wait a minute... There are only two other person who knew that Airi confessed her love to me. I turned to Reina, who happened to be avoiding glance to me while whistling. If Reina can keep my Black Phantom secret, why wouldn't she keep the Confession secret too?

I tried to act as cool as possible in front of my best friend. "I didn't give any answer."

"But why?" Rudolf tilted his head. As a wise man said, "mankind's curiosity will bring disaster to itself."

"I'm not ready." I answered as cold as possible.

"Awww, that's so sad." Rudolf seems disappointed. "You know, love sometimes unlock the Dracaryx." I didn't react to what Rudolf just said. This made the two Chevalier Unit got bored talking to me, realizing that I will never give confidential answers to them about my romantic life.

Dracaryx.

It is the ultimate weapon of Dragon Knights. They say that a powerful magic between the dragonoid and the dragon knight can be unleashed once Vesryn Pulse is reciprocated. Dracaryx has no definite form, and varies to the dragon and human's trust to each other. Only two percent of Dragon Knights can unleash this, and it also requires that the dragon and the knight are in opposite sex.

I've heard the theories, but I have yet to see in my own eyes what the Dracaryx is. I don't understand it myself. Hearing Rudolf lecture it to me makes me realize that he has already unlocked it. He has so much power hidden to the public.

Today's Magical Physics class is about a scientific project of the Hyperion Inc. Their new project is the Dragon Splicer. It is a triangular shaped plate that has the same size of the Shield Plate. There are photon circuits running along it together with some small motherboards that a tech genius would make an orgasm just by looking at it.

"The Dragon Splicer is made from various Futuretech Dragon Cells. It has the ability to merge the cells of two different dragons. It has a nanotechnology brain wave circuits that makes the consciousness of two dragons combine in a single body. It is still in the prototype stage, so the so called 'fusion' of two dragonoids will only last for fifteen minutes." The professor said.

Rudolf leaned to me and whispered. "I'll give you a hint about the Crimson Dragonfly. It involves that thing." He is pertaining to the Dragon Splicer.

I pretty much have all the information about the Crimson Dragonfly. My guess is that Airi used the Dragon Splicer with another dragonoid to become a Monolith Dragon. Futuretech Dragons are hard enough to control, what's more with a gargantuan one? Airi killing thousands of people is when she was in frenzy state, which clearly gives that Airi is not liable for those deaths.

"Looks like you're not even surprised." Rudolf made a serious stare.

"Airi already told me everything about the Crimson Dragonfly. Your General won't be able to blackmail her anymore." I said.

"Oh?" Rudolf seems unimpressed. "Tell me what you know."

"Airi fused herself to one other dragonoid using the Dragon Splicer to become the Monolith Dragon. Because of this overwhelming power, she failed to control it and started melting away the whole Vanilla City. Savvy?"

Rudolf clicked his tongue and smiled. "That's just so wrong. Airi really wants you to have the wrong idea."

I clenched both of my fists. I wanted to punch him, for playing dumb with me. For ruining my trust with Airi once again. For doubting my reason in entering this Academy. What else is there that I miss?

"Look, I don't want you to be played fool by terrorists." Rudolf tried to calm me but it didn't help one bit. "I also didn't want Airi to be hurt that is why Kyle and I never revealed the real identity of the Crimson Dragonfly to Reina. But if Airi's going to use you too, just like her past Dragon Knight, then I'll prevent her with all my bullets in my bag. You're my best friend after all."

"You're clearly sounding like Alder...No, the Black Phantom." I tried to force my smile to intimidate him.

Rudolf's brown eyes widened in shock for a millisecond then calmed himself down almost immediately. He knew that Alder's the original Black Phantom. He should have been involved in Alder's killing somehow. Or worse. He could've been the killer.

He made a long sigh and smiled at me. "It seems like we're not gonna settle this anytime soon."

"Yeah. We often quarrel like this when we were a kid. Just like before, none from us will ever quit our allegiance to the factions we trust. " I smiled at him too. I feel refreshed that the tension between us lessened.

We made a fistbump to sign this temporary ceasefire. We never had any argument, and continued to fulfill our ordinary roles as best friends until the end of the day.

When our classes have finally dismissed us, we rendezvous with our dragonoids in front of the main gate. There, Airi was waving her hand shouting my name. Beside her is Kyrie who had her cheeks red just by seeing Rudolf from a distance. It seems like the tension between those two girls has been weakened. Or they're just putting a mask, showing a fake personality to one another. Not so sure.

What's important right now is no one will be getting hurt. Not today. Not tomorrow.

There are still a lot of mysteries to be solved.

"How's my Amphy doing?" Airi rushed to my side and pushed her face forward. I avoided eye contact and replied uninterestingly with "Fine, I guess."

"Ooooh, you're totally blushing~" Airi screamed like an idiot. Wait, she is an idiot. "Let's go home together like normal couples do!"

The she pulled my arm, locked hands and skipped along the way instead of walking normally to our home. This is not normal at all. People have been looking at us, but Airi didn't mind.

Darn this idiot. If she weren't this forceful, I would've said I love her too.
