Three hours. I’ve been waiting for some signs in three hours. According to the intel we received, the Yellow Cross Hotel; about one thousand and fifty three kilometers away from us, is one of Dragunov’s safe houses. It certainly is one of the places we’ve been looking for. The princess might have been kept hidden in this place.

My team consisted of Cleru Neos and his dragonoid Jasmine, me and my wife Kyrie, and also we added one additional member; Gaz. Gaz is an ex-Arcadia, but still have good terms between his fellow dragonoid fanatics, which means that he can slip in and out of the Arcadian camp. He will be our eyes inside, while me and Kyrie wait and watch with our sniper rifle and binoculars.

I was a very good sniper in the academy, and teachers praised me for this talent. But the last time I held a rifle, I almost had my best friend killed. That is why I’m quite hesitant right now.

Cleru and Jasmine will be preparing their raid from above. It might be unseeable from the naked eye, but there is a Rainbow Dragon flying about a kilometer above from the hotel. The Rainbow Dragon can control the reflections and colors upon being exposed to sunlight, so they are most likely invisible right now.

“PK to Gaz. What’s your status?” I whispered to our radio, but there is no answer. I repeated the very same sentence for about five times, and there’s no answer. That’s weird. Gaz has an earpiece attached on him.

“Maybe he forgot to turn it on.” Kyrie said with a smile. She turned her binoculars to the right and then continued to speak. “There are Humvees on the right. I think I have spotted Dragunov.”

I redirected my rifle to where Kyrie was looking and there I saw him. Dragunov, with his snow white hair and beard. He was with the rainbow-eyed freak named Nox. They carefully got out of the Humvee and then for some reason, a chill went down on my spine. Is it me, or Nox is looking at our exact location? I doubted if he has the power of super vision (Since he almost have magical powers on anything) but I think I was wrong. He turned his head away normally.

It took a minute before Dragunov and his lackeys enter the fifth floor of the hotel. Some of the windows have curtains, which are really obscuring my sight. Good thing is that Dragunov went to the balcony. He appears to have a phone on his hand, talking to someone. But then…

“I know you’re listening through this channel, Cleru. You didn’t hold your part of the bargain, that is why I kidnapped the princess. Necross doesn’t want anything from her, but she can be used to bring war and achieve the death counts needed for the ritual. And now you’re here, ruining all our plans. You also brought your friends from the empire just to rescue your childhood friend.”

It was Dragunov’s voice that was coming from our communicators! Did he hack our radio? I was able to verify that it’s not when the curtains have opened. One window from the left gave me a vision of Princess Elkyria, who was completely tied in a metallic wheelchair. She even got her mouth shut by a duct tape, and there are a lot of C4 bombs attached all over her body!

On the left window, is Gaz completely tied in the very same manner with the princess. There are also bombs attached to him, and there’s Nox who is currently sticking a thousand-degree hot crimson spoon on the poor dragonoid’s right eye! I know that kid’s screaming in pain.

“We’ve been compromised! Get loud!” Cleru commanded.

I had my sniper rifle fire my first shot on Nox’s right arm which was currently tormenting the poor kid. His arm was torn and went flying as the rainbow-eyed freak fell down in pain. I tried aiming down Dragunov, but he already knew where the shot came from because of the projectile, so he quickly hid in the walls were I can’t completely see him. Because of this, I focused on firing minor targets such as Arcadians who are randomly shooting anywhere from their machine guns.

And then there was an air dive from the Rainbow Dragon. It destroyed the right part of the building which made debris such as cement, wood and steel bars fly everywhere. Then everything went so messy in that place.

“It’s action time, Kyrie!” I excitedly got up and removed dusts on my armor. And then I held my chest and shouted. “Activating Vesryn Pulse!”

The old building’s walls started to explode as soon as my Chaos Dragon’s size became so bulked. I know my dragon became fatter, but a husband has no way to say that to his wife. She’ll kill me if I ever uttered some words like dieting and exercise.

We skyrocketed forward with a sound-breaking speed. We have to provide backup for Cleru and rescue the princess and Gaz as soon as possible. But I realized that it won’t be easy when I sensed that we’ve been followed. The whole time.

The Black Phantom and his Ice Dragon has made its appearance once again. The Ice Dragon had her jaws charging up a gigantic ice ball the whole time, and it was released before my synapses entered my mouth to shout!

There was a loud burst of white smoke, and next time I know it, Kyrie’s left wing has been frostbitten! She lost her balance in the air and we crashed in a highway full of cars and busy people. Her damaged wing shattered like glass and my love uttered a loud cry!

“Damn you!” I shouted. I don’t have to hesitate at this point. I coated my flesh-arm with chaos energy, and cocked my mechanical arm, ready for battle. I gathered my strength towards my lungs as I inhaled deeply to activate the Voice of the Emperor, but then…

“DRACARYX!!! Activate Time Freeze!” The zombie Black Phantom shouted.

The next time I know, is that I’m already lying on the ground with my shield plate at zero percent. There is this ice dagger stuck in my heart, and I can feel that blood has been running to my cheeks, which really came from my mouth. I get it. That ninja ice lady and that zombie froze time again, in order to stab me wide open. I can no longer feel my heart beating, but I still have some consciousness on the surroundings.

My vision is blurry, but I can still see that my wife; Kyrie is standing in front of me, trying her best to protect me from other’s harm.

She’s currently facing the zombie Black Phantom. The Black Phantom bolted forward, releasing countless streaks with his golden rapier. Kyrie is not that mobile, so she took those piercings with bravery. She was now bathed with her own blood. She dashed backwards and created dark-hole looking balls which she threw to the enemy, but the zombie effortlessly evaded it by tumbling backwards.

Losing all her strength, I saw my love fell down just beside me. Gathering all energy left, she used it to crawl to me. But the Black Phantom was just behind her, slowly walking and readying his golden rapier to finish off the business.

“R-Rudolf…Honey…” She weakly said.

I know that I’m already dead, but that doesn’t mean that he can murder my wife in front of me!

A miracle came.

Everything became so slow. My mechanical fingers jerked, even though my whole body ceases to function. I struggled to control my hand to get the dagger on my heart. And with my willpower, I slowly draw the dagger, millimeter by millimeter. I tried to ignore the hellish pain I’m going through.

I may be dying, but no one can hurt Kyrie! Not even if my heart stops beating!

As soon as I got the dagger out, I quickly aimed to the Black Phantom, who is marching towards his own doom!

I threw it out to his left hand, which was holding the black heart.

When the black heart has been pierced, the corpse of the Black Phantom stood stiff. And then his flesh corroded, converting his body into dust which was immediately blown by the wind.
