It was about 8:30 p.m. when we heard Mason form the front room. "Hey y'all he's here." We all walked into the main room as HiJack was coming in. "Hey y'all what's up. It feels like I have been gone forever." HiJack said, hugging everyone. They all said their, Hi's, and then they calmed down a little. "And a, who is this?" HiJack asked walking over to me. "I'm Faith," I told him. "Well what's a good look'in girl like you do'in hanging around these guys?" He asked walking around me, check'in me out. Mason was trying so hard not to laugh; I was glad no one noticed. "When'd you get here?" He kept asking me questions. "What you writt'in a book?" I asked. "Oh that's cute, doll face." He responded. I could feel my face go hot. "Who's is this?" HiJack asked. No one said anything for a while, then Mason said: "Mine," Everyone looked at him like he was nuts. "What?" Ty asked. "Since when?" Cash asked at the same time as Ty. I didn't say anything and walked over to Mason. "Hey I think I'm going to step outside for a while." I whispered to Mason, "I'll be back later"
I walked outside and walked about two blocks. There was another field that me and the gang hang out in sometimes, I was walking past it when I see lights on the road next to me. I look over and see it is a Mod car. I start to walk a little faster, but they just sped up, so I started walking into the field. I heard them pull over and get out of the car. They were going faster than I was and before I could do anything they were in a circle around me. "Look what we have here." A deep voice said. "We got ourselves a Rud girl." He continued. I could tell one it was Brock talking to me, so I figured Treg was there somewhere, but I couldn't tell who the others were. I was too scared to think of pulling my switch blade out of my pocket. Suddenly I was down on the ground pinned by my arms and legs. "Help!" I yelled. "Dylan... Mason... Anyone!" I yelled. One of the boys slugged me in the face hard and it made my ears ring.
"Did y'all here that?" Navvy asked. "Where'd Faith go?" He asked. "She went for a walk." Dylan said. They were all silent for a while, then they hear, "Mason, Navvy, somebody help!" Faith yelled, faintly. "It's Faith come on!" Mason said, already out the door.
"Let's give this Rud girl a makeover." A different boy said, he pulled out his blade and two others, I could hear did the same. "Let's start with her nose." The first boy said. One of them cut me from my right eyebrow down my nose to the bottom of my cheek, barely missing both my eyes. I yelled some more before they put a rag in my mouth. They cut my arms, legs, more on my face and then they slugged me some more.
"Faith!" "Faith!" The gang was calling. "Where is she?" Ty asked. "She can't be far if we heard her from the house." Dylan said. "Hey y'all isn't that a Mod car?" Cash asked, standing on the side walk. Everyone walked over and looked for a while. It was perfectly visible under the street light. "Yea, she must be over there," Mason said walking over.
The Mods beat me up so much I was almost completely unconscious, they had slugged me so many times I lost count, and I had so many cuts I thought I would bleed out or something. The rag slips loose in my mouth for a second and I took the chance and yelled for the gang some more. I heard beats on the ground, and the Mods ran away, one of their feet got caught under me and flipped me over. The beats on the ground ran past me, but someone came up next to me and I thought it was a Mod, so I tried my hardest not to move. He grabbed my shoulder and rolled me over, he sat me up and I laid against his shoulder, after a while I realized it was Navvy.
"Hey kid, wake up." I heard him say. I heard the rest of the gang come over. "Hey she alright?" Mason asked putting his hand on my leg and I flinched because he pressed right on a cut. He quickly let go and looked at his hand and then at my leg. "She's cut up real bad." He said as everyone else came over. "There is blood everywhere." Mason continued.
I started to regain consciousness, I opened my eyes and looked around for a minute. "Easy, easy... hey your all right, don't move." Ty told me. I couldn't really see him, I couldn't really see anyone they were all blurry and a little red from the blood dripping past my eyes. I did as told and tried not to move, I closed my eyes and was out again. I felt someone put their arm on my back and under my legs and lift me up off the ground.
Whoever was carrying me walked all the way back to the Thorton's house and set me down on the three-person couch. A little while later I heard the door open and I looked up to see and older lady with white hair and a purse come in. I was real confused about what was going on. "Who is she," I managed to say. "She is a nurse that lives down the street, her name is Ms. Lynn." Navvy explained. "Don't worry she is going to help you." Mason told me. "Mason, I'm fine." I told him, and started to sit up. "No you're not, you need to lay down." "Ou!" I laid back down. Ms. Lynn came back with a wash cloth and a bottle. "Um... Mason." I said when I noticed the bottle was alcohol. Ms. Lynn started cleaning my cuts, and it stung real bad.
