It was pretty scary in the hospital room all alone, or at least I thought I was alone. For all I knew there could be someone in there all the time. A lot of the time I was asleep, and when I wasn't I still felt like I was. I still didn't remember much about anything, the only thing that seemed real familiar to me was Mason, Dylan and the time that Dylan and I were in the whole and the Thorton's house. I didn't remember it was the Thorton's house, I just remembered what it looked like.
I have been in the hospital for a week now and my side still hurt. I didn't really know why, no one ever told me what happened to me that made me end up in the hospital. The doctor said that I will get my memory back over time, so he has had the gang come in and just talk to me and to sit in there for a while. Today they had Ty sit in there with me.
"Hey Faith, it's Ty, how you feel'n?" He asked when he got there. "Still in the hospital aint I?" I joked, he just laughed. "I'm sure you will be able to go home soon." He told me. "Wouldn't be so sure." I commented. "What?" He asked. "When the doc thought I was asleep I heard him talking to a nurse and he said I wasn't getting better. He thought I would have gotten some of my memory back by now, or something, but I haven't" I explained. "Don't worry about that. I don't know if you remember or not, but you were the toughest girl any of us had ever met. You'll be fine." He assured me, I just gave a little grin.
Ty was still there when I went to bed that night and I think he fell asleep. I didn't hear him after we talked for a while, but every once in a while I would hear him move or make a noise.
Cash was sitting on the couch with the bottle in his hand, then Navvy was talking about me being fine and we were in the field where I got jumped, then Ty when I was getting beat'n with a broom by Ruth, then Dylan in the hole, HiJack young and climbing out the window the night he left, and Mason in the cave when he was sick, and Marty from the night that I had first sung in MT's. It all happened so fast. It scared me how fast it was moving that I woke up.
"Mason!" I yelled when I woke up. "Mason!" I yelled again. "Woah, easy, Faith, calm down." Ty said calmly. "What's wrong?" He asked. "I remember," I whispered. "What?" He asked. "I remember you and Navvy and Cash and Mason and Dylan and HiJack, and even Marty." I told him. "I remember you from when I got beat by Ruth with a broom. Navvy from when I got jumped. Mason and Dylan from the cave. Cash from the night me, Mason and Dylan ran away, HiJack from when we were younger and Marty from the day I first sang in MT's ." I continued. Ty was speechless, he really didn't know what to say.
The next day they had Cash come and stay with me. "I heard you remember all of us." He said coming into the room. "Yea, last night I remembered everyone." I smiled. "You'll be back to normal in no time." He told me. "Yea, and you are going to be the president of the United States." I joked. "You still have that sense of humor, but no I'm serious, you really will get better," He said, I just smiled and shook my head. "I'm do'n better than the kid in that room." I pointed at the wall. "There is a vent on the wall and I can hear everything. Apparently he is sixteen and he saved some kids from a burning church." I explained to Cash. "Yea he is on the front page of the paper." Cash told me. "Yea I have heard he aint do'in so well." I continued. "So what is new with you?" I asked him, changing the subject. "Well I decided to go back to school, so I can get a better job and give Mason a better life." He told me. "For real?" I said excitedly. I had never known Cash when he was in school he dropped out when he was a freshman.
We talked for a long time, just about random things, until the doctor said I should go to bed. I think Cash thought I was asleep when he started talking, kind of to me, kind of to himself. I could tell by the sound of his voice he was trying not to cry. "This is all my fault. Faith, it is all my fault. If I hadn't cut Mason and pinned you to the wall, this never would have happened. I was just, so mad at Taysha, and myself too I guess." He said. "It isn't your fault," I whispered, then sat up. "I remember what happened a little bit, but I know it isn't your fault. No one could predict the future, and what you just said is pretty much what everyone else has been saying. "I told him
Eventually I went to sleep, it was about an hour or so after the doctor said I should go to bed. Cash and I talked a little longer and then we both fell asleep around the same time.
The bear was right in my face, it was a grizzly bear, with brown fur and a long nose. I couldn't move, then it reared up and I heard gun shots. When I looked the bear was on the ground. I walked around to see if the kids where all right and then I looked up and saw all those big boulders coming toward me. I couldn't do anything, there was no where I could go fast enough that I still wouldn't get caught in it. I felt a sharp pain in my side then I bolted up.
"Cash? Cash you still there," I asked, choking back tears. "Yea, I'm still here." He said, tiredly. I couldn't hold back and I started to cry. "Cash, what if I never get to see again?" I asked after a little while. "Hey don't say that," I felt him sit on the bed next to me.
He reached up and wiped the tears off my face. "You'll be able to see again." He told me. "But what if I don't?" I asked. "I don't know, but I do know that we will all help you, if you don't get your vision back. I know you will though." I could tell by the way he said that he was smiling.
"How can you be so sure?" I asked. "I just know, you are one of the strongest people I know, I think you'll be fine." Cash told me. "That is what Ty said," I smiled. "Well it is about, eleven a.m., so Navvy should be hear soon." Cash said. "Are you serious?" I exclaimed. "Woah, I thought it was still night." I smiled.
About twenty minutes later Navvy came and him and Cash switched. "Hey, Faith, how are ya?" Navvy asked. "I've been better," I told him. "Yea, I heard about what happened the past couple nights, but I couldn't get away from work." He explained. "It's all good, hey how is MT's do'n. Since you know I haven't been able to work for a couple months?" I asked. "It is doing good, Marty refuses to hire anyone else to do your job, so business has been a little slow." Navvy told me. "Really?" I asked. "Yup, he said that when you feel good enough that he would love to see you back at work." Navvy smiled.
Navvy and I talked a little more before the nurse came in. "So I hear Cash has decided to go back to school." I butted into our conversation. "Yea, it was kinda weird how it happened, we were talking and he thought it was his fault y'all ran away and then I said it wasn't and then out of know where he said he wanted to go back to school." Navvy explained.
"Faith, your parents want to see you." The nurse said, walking in. "What? I thought my parents were dead?" I asked. "She is talking about your foster parents." Navvy explained. "Who?" I asked. "Trust me, you don't want to see them." Navvy told me. "Oh, does she mean Ruth and Harold?" I asked. "Yup," Navvy said. "Yea, I really don't want to see them." I told the nurse. "But they are your parents." She insisted. "I said I don't want to see them." I repeated.
Around five minutes later, I hear the door open and people come in. "Hey she said she didn't want to see you." Navvy scolded, I was guessing Ruth and Harold. "Shut up boy," I heard someone fall over on the floor and things get pushed onto the ground. "Navvy?" I asked, kind of worried. "Do you know how much this is going to cost!" Ruth yelled. "You irresponsible little girl, what'd you have to go and land yourself in the hospital for?" Harold asked. "Hey, I'm talking to you, look at people when they are talking to you." He scolded me. "She can't see you," Navvy told him. "What did I tell you?" Harold asked Navvy. Navvy pushed the green button on the wall and I could hear people running in the hallway.
Ty and Mason decided to stop by and say, 'Hi' before they went back to the hotel. "Hey isn't that Faith's room?" Mason pointed to the door. They saw a lot of nurses and doctors running in the room. "It is!" Ty exclaimed and they both went over to the room. It took them a while to get in there since a lot of doctors and nurses were going in.
It took at least five of the doctors and some of the nurses to get Ruth and Harold out of the room. It took ten minutes to actually get them out of the room. "Faith are you ok?" I heard Mason ask. "Mason? When did you get here?" I asked. "Just a second ago, we saw the nurses and doctors to come in here. Then we saw them drag Ruth and Harold out of here." Mason explained. "Yea, I'm fine. They weren't too happy 'bout me be'n here though." I said. "That I can believe." Ty smiled.
