Liam's POV

I could hear beeping in the background and I could feel something leaning on my side. I snuggled the side into the person next to me, thinking it was Belle. When I opened my eyes, the white room completely blinded me, burning my eyes so I had to close them again.

I must have forgotten to close the blinds before I went to bed last night.

Since I was so comfortable, I decided to just continue to lay in bed, snuggled up with Belle while we still could sleep in. Since the baby was coming soon, I wanted to treasure the time we could spend together in the mornings. We would be up a lot sooner after the baby came.

Her breathing was even, which calmed me slightly. For some reason, I woke up on edge and as soon as I heard the breathing next to me, I felt like I could breath again. The body snuggled up to me made me pretty calm, seeing as I was pretty on edge for some reason.

I wrapped my arms around her waist and made her body press to my side so I could feel her closer to me. When I did this, three things made me wonder what was going on.

First, her hair was a lot shorter than I was used to.

Second, when I took a deep breath and smelt something. It wasn't my cologne or her perfume.

Third, she felt bigger than normal and didn't have any sort of baby bump.

Something weird was going on and I didn't want to open my eyes because I knew it would be bad. The second I felt that something was off, the overwhelming feeling of pain came back and my mind suddenly felt so heavy. I really didn't want to open my eyes because I knew whatever the bad thing was, it would be realized when I opened my eyes.

Slowly, I opened my eyes, the bright white still burning them. It took me a few seconds before I could keep them open, but when I did, I was facing a ceiling that didn't look like mine. It was white panels with some fading brown spots, not the nice grey I was accustom to.

I looked down at Belle, but it wasn't her.

Zayn was laying there, cuddled up to my side with my arms wrapped around him as if her were Belle. For a few seconds, I was confused for a second as I started to move and then I brought the pieces together.

I fell right out of the bed when figured out what was going on. "Zayn! Get up!" I yelled. The other four boys in the room all jumped up at that time, all of them getting on their feet within a few seconds. "How long have we been asleep?"

Harry pulled out his phone. "Only four hours."

I looked at the bed that Belle had been in before, but it wasn't there. The whole thing seemed like it had been moved right out of the way and left in its place was an empty looking hole. Just looking at that empty spot made me feel like something was wrong.

"Where's Belle?" I asked.

There was a knock at the door that made me look over at a male doctor standing there looking at us. "I'm glad you're awake."

"Where is my girlfriend?" I asked him again.

He came into the room, his face looking grim. "I'd like for the five of you to take a seat please."

I shook my head with tears rising in my eyes. "I'm not moving until you tell me where she is and what happened."

"You're going to want to sit down." He said, patting my shoulder.

I let my breath come out in heavy pants and my tears fall down my face as I knew something bad happened. Just the way he was talking and how he was asking me to sit down made me aware that whatever he was going to tell me was bad news.

Niall came up behind me and brought me over to one of the chairs, pulling me with him as my world was completely shattering around me. I couldn't move by myself and my mind was completely blank aside from the thoughts of whether or not both of them were okay.

"You're baby is completely fine." I said to try and reassure me, but I knew something bad was going to happen after that.

I let out a breath of relief, but I was still on edge. He hadn't said anything about how Belle was, so I assumed that she was part of the bad news. "What else? What about Belle?"

He seemed to hesitate before he said anything. "I'm sorry. We did everything we could."

My eyes fluttered closed as I waited for him to say it.

"She passed away seconds after the baby was delived."

I took a deep breath, shaking my head and standing up. "No." I whispered. "There's got to be something you can do."

He gave me a seemingly broken look, standing up himself. "There was nothing we could do. I'm sorry." He walked out of the room and I couldn't help but look at him as he walked away.
