15. "It's going to be hilarious if it actually turns out to be a boy."

Stephen's POV

I was finally back home and trying to get everything squared away for the baby's room. That is why I was in such a rush to get back. That way it would be a nice surprise for Elle when she came back when she got a break. In all honesty, I could have definitely stayed another week with her but I wanted to get this out of the way so it wouldn't interfere with training camp. It was currently me and Sydel trying to figure out how to build the crib and we were confused as ever.

"Steph, these directions are in French."

"Turn it on the other side." I said while looking at the many pieces that were scattered across the floor. I mean honestly how hard could this be? Me and Sydel were smart enough to be able to do this. At least I thought that we were. We had already painted the walls a soft pink and the entire theme was supposed to be pink and white. I know Giselle would be in love with it when she got to see it. The baby's room would be across from ours so that way we could constantly keep an eye on her. At this point, I was definitely convinced that it was a girl and I was praying that it was since we had already painted and bought everything pink.

"Giselle is going to flip when she sees this!" Sydel says while grabbing a screwdriver and starting to assemble one side.

"If we ever figure out how to do it."

"Steph, calm down. It's going to turn out fine."

"Have you started to plan the shower with Amirah?"

"Yeah, we're actually almost done. It's going to be in December since that's when we will all be able to be there. It's going to be here and I have the decorations and everything. I hope your intuition is right and that it's a girl because everything I bought was pink and white." Sydel said while giving me the side eye.

"I have to call and check on her. I haven't heard from her since this morning."

"Go ahead and take a break. I'll keep going." Sydel said while attempting to look at the picture to see if she was setting it up correctly.

I stepped out into the hallway and quickly dialed her number. She picked up on the second ring.

"Hey Steph." I heard her answer and I honestly felt my heart skip a beat.

"Hey baby, are you okay?" She had already started classes and was telling me the other day how much work was involved, but that she was still excited.

"I'm okay, just a little sleepy. I just got back from my vocal class. My professor wants us to write two original songs and she gave us two weeks to do it."

"Well that's nothing for you."

"Yeah, I already had some ideas in mind and I wrote them down in class. I'll probably record them by the end of the week and send them to you so you can hear it." She had yet to release her mixtape Conversational Lush and I keep telling her that this is the perfect time to do so.

"I look forward to hearing it."

"I guess I should tell you that one of them is about you." It's almost as if I knew that she was smiling.

"Only one? Why not both?" I curiously asked.

"A little cocky aren't we?" She responded while laughing.

"Well I guess I'll accept that. You can write your entire album about me though."

"If you say so Wardell." I knew for a fact at that moment she was probably rolling her eyes.

"How are you feeling? When is your doctor's appointment?" I set her up with an OBGYN that was said to be one of the best in the city. I know she wanted her one from home, but we had to make sacrifices at the moment.
