On My Mind..

"Hey Ashton!", I hear a voice behind me say.
It was just after lunch.
I turn around and see Leah. I smile but Leah gasps. I'm confused until I remember that Tyler beat me up.
"Oh it's nothing, I'm fine," I assure her.
"That doesn't look like nothing!," her face was mixed with anxiousness and anger.
"Who did this to you?," she asks as she examines my face.
I open my mouth to speak but I see Tyler coming over to us.
"Hey beautiful, hey... freak," he looks at Leah then me.
His face was filled with anger. I flinch slightly.
"I-I gotta go Leah," I say and head off to my locker.
I look back to see Leah and Tyler talking and Leah storming away in anger. I sigh and grab my binder. Schools almost over. A couple more classes..
I walk past Tyler and avoid eye contact. He mumbles something through his gritted teeth and I walk away faster. That doesn't sound pleasant.

It was after school when Leah came up to me as I was walking away from my locker.
"Hey," she says.
"Hi," I mumble.
She sighs and looks down.
"Do you wanna hang out today?," she asks.
My eyes widen a bit. Tyler will kill me.
"I-I can't.. I'm, uh busy..," I stutter.
"I broke up with Tyler if that's why your denying.. I also know he's the one who did that to you," Leah says while gesturing to my bruised face.
She.. she broke up with Tyler?! Wow. Wasn't expecting that. I smile thinking about it.
"I'll see you tomorrow I guess," she sighs a bit.
"No! I mean.. no, we can hang out now," I say.
She smiles and nods. I text my mom quickly telling her I won't be home for a bit.
We both walk out of the school and get in here car.
"Let's go to the pizza place," I say.
She smiles so I take that as a yes. She drives us there while we made small talk until we get there.
We find a table and sit down. I look at her while she orders us drinks.
"What do you want to drink?," she asks me, snapping me out of whatever fantasy I was in.
"Oh uh sprite please," I say and look at the waiter.
He nods and walks off.
I try to start talking but I didn't know where to start. So I ended up opening and closing my mouth like I was a goldfish.
"I broke up with him because I couldn't stand people being beat up and him making me watch.. I try to help them but his friends hold me back or-.. I didn't want him controlling me anymore..," she says quietly.
I nod and sadly smile.
"It's going to be okay," I assure.
"And.. I like someone else," she says slowly.
I feel my heart sink. There's another guy now? There goes my chances. I really do love her.. she rarely ever leaves my mind.
"Oh," I whisper and look down.
She goes to speak but the waiter comes back and hands us our drinks. We tell him  what kind of pizza we want and he walks away again.
"Ashton.. I like y-..," but she gets cut off by a chuckling behind me.
"Hello Ashton," the mans voice behind me says.
I gasp and shake a bit.
No! He can't be here!
