Pete and Patrick traveled down the hallway of a brightly lit hospital. Patrick was practically pushing himself into Pete's side, letting his eyes trail the space around them nervously.
"What's up, Punk?" There was a chuckle in Pete's tone as he turned to his husband.
Patrick shook his head. "Don't like hospitals..." He mumbled, "A lot of bad dreams happen in them..."
"Me breaking my foot that one time couldn't of been helpful to that." Pete frowned. He quickly rediscovered a smile, however, squeezing Patrick's hand. "Sorry."
Patrick still had nerves evident on his face, but rolled his eyes. "If you would have seen the squirrel hole-"
"Hey! I can't control where they leave their holes!" Pete laughed. He pulled Patrick to the side of the hallway, allowing others to pass as needed, before gently pressing a kiss to the shorter mans lips.
Patrick's tenseness relaxed a bit with the kiss. He was okay, Pete was okay; they were okay. If only they could say the same for their friend...
Pete pulled away, but not before adding a kiss to Patrick's forehead. "Almost there." He smiled.
Patrick nodded. Pete lead the way, pulling Patrick along with him. Room 27 C was where Kellin and Vic were supposed to be, and it was exactly where Pete and Patrick found them.
Kellin was laying in the hospital bed, wearing a pastel purple hospital gown and a blanket that covered his waist down. His eyes were closed and his chest was moving in a slow, rhythmic pattern. Different IVs were stuck in him, attached to different monitors surrounding the bed.
Vic looked exhausted in the chair next to Kellin's bed. His eyelids drooped as he looked at his husband sleeping silently in the bed. There were dark bags under his eyes and his long hair looked as if he had been relentlessly running fingers through it.
"Now I wish I would have thought to pick up some of those shiny, purple balloons from the lobby." Pete laughed lightly, getting Vic's attention to turn from the bed.
A grin spread across Vic's face. It was an expression that looked like it hadn't used in awhile. "Pete. Patrick." He stood up to go greet them, "Hey! I wasn't expecting you guys."
"We wanted to check in." Patrick smiled, "We would have brought the baby, but Ryan really enjoys his babysitting privileges."
"She probably would have been bored here anyway." Vic replied with a shrug. He looked down before flashing his eyes up with sincerity. "Thank you guys for coming... He's been out for awhile, though. Not sure when he'll be up."
"Will he be up in enough time for me to grab some pizza?" Pete inquired, "You look like you could use a meal."
Vic smiled, "Maybe. Food does sound good."
"I'll go get some then." Pete grinned.
"I'll wait here with you and Kellin." Patrick offered, "I can show you some pictures and stuff."
Vic maintained his smile, "That would be nice..."
Pete gave Patrick a quick kiss before exiting the room. Patrick turned back to Vic, who was looking worriedly at Kellin. He pit his hand on Vic's shoulder.
"Hey, he'll be okay." Patrick smiled reassuringly.
Vic nodded, but he didn't smile this time. "I'll still worry until he's at home in my arms." He whispered.
"In time, it'll happen. For now, maybe you could use a nap or something."
Vic snapped his head in Patrick's direction. His eyes were wide before he shook his head. "I have bad dreams here..." He mumbled.
Patrick nodded. "I understand. Wanna talk, then?"
Vic nodded. He looked so nervous and small, Patrick felt compelled to pull him into a hug. Instead, he lead Vic back over to the chair and sparked up a conversation in an attempt to make his friend feel better.
