Chapter 2: It's Vacation Time!

(Juliana's POV)

We arrive home from school. We got out of the car and as we were about to head inside, Mom stops us.

"I was going to come to get you at school today anyway. There's a surprise inside," Mom said as she smiled and gave us a wink. 

My sister and I perked up and quickly head inside. Our vision came across our dad holding pamphlets to what looked like vacation destinations.

"Now that it is summertime and we've been planning this huge trip for years......" Dad said with a pause as he smiled at his wife.

"We're going on a cruise around the world. We'll be seeing so many places," Mom finished off the sentence.

Our eyes widen to the size of saucers and gasped with excitement.

"Really?!?!" Brooke and I exclaimed shockingly and excitedly.

Both of our parents nodded back excitedly. Brooke and I jumped with excitement.

"When do we go?" I asked.

"In about a week. I suggest getting started on some packing. We'll be gone for quite some time," Mom suggested.

"On it," I said as I excitedly head upstairs to my room to get some packing done.

Brooke hurriedly followed behind me and headed to her room to do the same.

(Later that evening)

Brooke and I took a break from packing and headed to our beach backyard. We live off the coast of Brooklyn, New York. I came to our back porch with the grill ready. We wanted a nice picnic on the beach on such a nice evening before our big vacation next week. 

Dad starts up the grill and puts the meat on the rack. The smokey aroma fills the area. I smell the grill-like smell as I sit in the sand with Brooke. I turn my head towards our father.

"It smells good Dad," I commented.

His cooking skills are amazing. I can't wait to eat the burgers and grilled chicken. 

"Thanks, pumpkin. Just wait till I add some seasoning," Dad replied.
