Chapter Five: Fun And Games At The Weasley Residence
Lottie's Point Of View
"Lumos." I whispered as I pulled the covers right over my head. The end of my wand began to glow slightly and gave me just enough light to see. I pulled the white envelope Lupin had given me out from under the pillow and stared at it, debating whether to open it or not. Go on Lottie. Do it.
I put the handle of my wand in my mouth and kept hold of it with my teeth as I gently began to tear off the top of the envelope. There was a sudden rustling sound in the room, "Nox." I whispered quickly, dropping the envelope and my wand, sticking my head out of the covers and falling back onto the pillow with my right eye half open. I waited and I listened; but whichever twin moved wasn't moving again. I breathed a sigh of relief and sat up again, pulling the quilt over my head and whispering 'Lumos' once more. Gripping my wand in my teeth again, I managed to tear open the envelope. I carefully emptied out the contents onto my mattress and the first thing to catch my eye was the glitter of silver. I made a grab for it first and looked at it in awe. It was a bracelet. A silver charm bracelet. There was also four charms hanging from it. An emerald, a ruby, a book and a teddy bear. I smiled and I looked the bracelet over. Where did he get this? I looked back onto my mattress and saw a piece of folded parchment. I placed the bracelet in front of me, reaching forward and unfolding the parchment,
Dear Colette,
I thought that you should have something of your mothers to remind you of her; since you never really knew her. The first thing you're probably going to notice is the charm bracelet. This was your mothers. She gave it to me when she gave me you to look after so you could have something of hers in case something happened. If you look at the bracelet, all the charms represent something. The emerald represents your mother's eyes, which are so like yours. There is also a book. This is because Lily was very intelligent and loved her books. Next is the ruby, this stands for her red hair and the teddy is there because she loved the teddy charm and there's nothing else to that one. Your mum was a bit of softie too.
Also if you look in the envelope there are three pictures. I hope you will enjoy them. As you'll see, there is one of you and I, you and your mother and another of all three of us. These were all took a few months after you were born. Promise me you won't lose them.
Have a great birthday my little girl, and if I don't get to speak to you before, have a good time at Hogwarts this year. I promise you can stay with us in the summer, even just for a day. Just don't cause too much trouble with the twins and Alex.
All my love,
Dad. x
Man, that's almost made cry. I stared at the letter as tears began to blur my vision slightly. I re-read it again quickly and a tear slipped down my cheek. There was another noise in the room. I hurriedly said 'Nox', dropping my wand and acting like I was asleep again. I laid still for a few moments to ensure both twins were defiantly asleep again before pushing back the covers. I clutched my wand as I gathered the envelope, the letter and the bracelet together and silently left the room, taking a last look at Fred and George who were sleeping soundly, almost in sync. I laughed lightly to myself as I slowly made my way down the stairs, heading for the living room.
