My name is Mayara Michele De La Garza/Lovato, but most people just call me May. I'm a 14-year-old girl, probably not that different from many of you. At least, that's what I'd like to think. But the truth is, my life isn't exactly normal.

I'm part of the Lovato family. My younger sister is Madison De La Garza, my older sister is Dallas Lovato, and—yeah, you've guessed it—my famous sister is Demi Lovato. Don't get me wrong, I love all of them, but sometimes I wish I didn't belong to this family. Having sisters who shine so bright can make you feel like you're fading into the background.

Demi is always busy being a superstar, Dallas is way older than me and living her own life, and Madison... well, she and I couldn't be more different. We're twins, but you'd never know it. Maddie is everything I'm not. She's outgoing, cheerful, confident. And me? I feel like the complete opposite.

But let's get to who I am. I love singing and playing piano, though almost nobody knows that. Honestly, I don't even want people to know—it feels like my secret little world. My life is strange. I spend most of my time alone at home, and at school, I don't exactly have a big circle of friends. In fact, I only really have one: Liliana—though I call her Lily. She's the only person I feel truly gets me.

School isn't easy. There are girls like Kayla and her little "minions." Everyone's afraid of them because they're bullies. And for some reason, they've decided to hate me the most. Maybe it's because of my last name. Maybe it's because I'm "sort of famous" without actually being anyone special. Whatever the reason, they make sure I never forget it.

So... welcome to my life. Messy, complicated, and not at all what you might expect from someone with the name Lovato.
