Mayara's P.O.V.
The snacks are gone. My stomach feels full, but not terrifyingly so. I lean back against the pillows, still shaky but calmer. I did it. I ate. I didn't purge. I didn't hurt myself. Two months... two months and counting. That's huge.
Demi sits beside me, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "You did amazing today, May. Not just on stage... but off stage too. You're stronger than you realize."
I glance at her, letting a small, nervous smile slip out. "I... I still get scared, Demi. And the voices... they're always there. But tonight... I didn't let them win. Not completely."
She squeezes my hand. "You won't always silence them completely, and that's okay. But every time you fight... every time you keep going... you get stronger. And tonight? You were incredible."
"I... I haven't hurt myself in two months," I whisper, voice catching. "I'm scared I'll mess it up, I'll fail..."
"You won't," Demi says firmly, her voice soft but steady. "Two months is huge, May. Two months of fighting, surviving, and not letting the voices take over. That's real progress. You should be proud of yourself."
I feel tears sting my eyes. "I... I don't know if I feel proud. I'm scared it's not enough."
Demi shakes her head gently. "It is enough. Tonight, you sang your heart out. You faced your fear, you performed, you ate, and you didn't hurt yourself. That's more than enough. That's victory. You fought, and you won."
I press my forehead to hers. "Thank you... for staying with me. For helping me when I feel like I can't."
"You'll never be alone," she whispers, wrapping me in a hug. "We're a team, May. I've got you. Always."
I curl up beside her, letting the warmth of her and the others' presence wash over me. The voices are still there, but quieter. Tonight... tonight, they don't control me.
"I think... maybe tomorrow will be easier," I murmur.
"Maybe it will," Demi says, brushing my hair back. "And even if it isn't, we'll get through it together. One day at a time."
I let out a slow breath and close my eyes, feeling safe for the first time in a long time. I'm scared, yes. Anxious, yes. But I am here. I am fighting. I am surviving.
And tonight... tonight, that's enough.
