"Please... stay awake, MayMay!" a familiar voice calls out. And then... everything goes black.

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside my window. It's 10 in the morning. Wait... why am I lying in my own bed? I passed out at school. How?

Then it all comes rushing back. Kayla, Grace, and Fiona... the kicks, the slaps, the pain. And that familiar voice... MayMay. That voice belonged to... DEMI! And my friend Lily—she didn't do anything.

Yeah, that's right. Nobody cares about you, remember?

I shake my head, trying to push the horrible thoughts away. I try to move, but my whole body aches—every muscle, every limb. This has to be the worst time they've ever kicked me.

Suddenly, there's a knock on my door. Demi appears, standing there quietly.
"Can I come in?" she asks. I nod.

"Hey, baby girl. How are you feeling?" she says, sitting on my bed. Baby girl... I love it when she calls me that.

"I'm... fine, I guess," I whisper, unsure.

"Do you remember what happened yesterday?" she asks. I nod, keeping my head down. She probably knows about the bullies now.

She lifts my chin, her beautiful eyes locking with mine.
"D-do you... know?" I stammer.

"Yeah, I do. And I'm so sorry. I didn't know until your friend Lily called me yesterday and told me everything about the bullies."

I'm lucky she only knows about the bullying... not my other secrets. But wait—Lily actually did something to help me. How could I have thought she wouldn't? Tears start to fall.

"Shh... May, calm down. It's okay. You'll be going to another school soon," Demi whispers. I stare at her, stunned. Did she just say the bullies will stop?

"O-okay... thank you, DemDem," I say, hugging her tightly. She wipes my tears and stands to leave.
"We'll have breakfast in ten minutes," she reminds me. Right... breakfast.

I change into sweatpants and an oversized sweater. I don't have to go to school today, so why not be comfortable?

Downstairs, I find Demi, Madison, Dallas, and my parents sitting at the table. Can this day get any better? Well... now I have to eat. Ugh.

I grab some bread and make a sandwich, staring at it like it's my worst enemy.

Don't eat it!
If you do, you'll have to purge!

Always those fucking voices...

P.O.V. Demi

I watch my little sister staring at her food like it's her enemy. Does she have an eating disorder? What if she ends up like me? Does she cut herself too? This is all my fault—everything is my fault! A tear slips down my cheek, and I feel someone grab my arm. Dallas is walking with me to another room.

"Dem? What's wrong?"
"Nothing... I'm fine," I lie, staring at the floor.

"Demi! Tell me what's wrong. Does it have something to do with food?" she asks, gently wiping my tears.
"No, I swear!"

"What is it, Dem?"
"Don't you see what's happening to our little sister? She's being bullied. She's looking at her food like it's the enemy. What if she ends up like me, Dallas? This is all my fault!"

"First of all, it's not your fault, Demi! You didn't let your sister be bullied, so none of this is on you," Dallas says, hugging me. I feel a little of the tension leave my body.

"We have to help her, Dal," I say firmly. Together, we walk back to the kitchen. Everyone is there... except my little sister, Mayara.
