Louise knew that the news of her engagement to Bucky would not be a pleasant surprise to her mother, and if she got wind that other people knew before she did? Well, Louise did not like to think about the results of such a slight. It had taken a lot of convincing, but Louise had finally managed to get Bucky to promise not to tell anyone, not even Steve, until she had a chance to tell her mother.

Louise stayed to dinner that night, Bucky was sure she was trying to make sure he kept his promise not to tell anyone, but he thought her staying was rather counter-productive if she wanted to keep the news under wraps. Bucky didn't look around much at dinner, but he did notice that Steve and T'Challa seemed to both think something was up. The excitement of Louise promising to be his wife made Bucky very inattentive to anyone or anything else. And Louise seemed to be smugger than a cat at the cream.

When Louise finally left, with the promise to tell her mother soon and let Bucky know as soon as the news was broken, Steve pounced on his friend. "What was up with you two, tonight?" Steve asked, catching Bucky on his way back upstairs. "You guys nearly put me off my dinner you were so disgusting." He teased. Bucky smiled, and grunted in a non-comital sort of way.

"Seriously," Steve demanded, walking backwards to better watch Bucky's face. "What's up?"

"I can't tell you." Bucky responded, "I promised Louise. But I promise you, I will let you know as soon as I can." Steve stopped and stared after Bucky, far from satisfied. But, he knew he wouldn't get any more information tonight, so went to find T'Challa to share the information he did have.
