I'm lay there in my nice cozy two-bedroom house. Unfortunately, I live alone.  The other room is for guests such as my brother who visits quite frequently. I hear a knock. I think it is just the walls of my old house. I roll over and ignore it trying to fall back asleep. The knock happens again. I get outta bed and put a shirt on. I answer the door to my ex. "Oh. Hey." I say not very excited.

She slowly opens her mouth, like she wasn't sure what to say. "Before you say anything, I'm sorry for what I did. That was terrible. I've learned my lesson. I'll never do anything like that to anybody ever again." She softly mumbled. I look at her not very impressed with her speech. "It is in the past," I tell her.

She smiles awkwardly before frowning at the little boy hiding behind her legs. I didn't even notice he was standing there. "Jasp, you wanna meet someone?" She smiles and picks up the little boy.

I smile at the little boy. "So why are you here Ava?" I ask her.

"Evin. You may wanna sit down for this one." She softly mumbles and slips past me, inviting herself in and walking to the living room. She sets the boy down and smiles, kissing his little cheeks. "Stay here. Mommy has to talk to the nice man." She stands up and rubbed the back of her neck nervously.

I sit down. "So when did you have a kid? Is that Mike's?" I ask still confused and referring to the guy she cheated on me with.

She sifts the weight from one leg to the other. "His name is, Jasper Rea Stone. Your son."

I open my mouth to say something. "Don't even deny it because I've had a DNA test with Mike and Jasper is not his. I didn't know how to tell you, and shortly after we broke up, I found out and things got really really bad with Mike. Hell, I got kicked out of my home too and I'm living in a hotel with a baby." She runs her fingers through her hair and lets out a frustrated huff.

"Sorry. I thought you needed to know. I don't want him growing up without his dad around." She finishes her speech.

I look at him on the other side of the room. "Mine?" I ask. I close my eyes. "3 years ago," I whisper to myself. It is obvious that I am thinking and doing math in my head. "Holy shit." I bite my lip.

She nods softly. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. The simple fact is, I thought you'd slam the door in my face or tell me I'm lying. I have the paperwork for the DNA if you want to see it?" She grabs her bag and pulls out a folder of papers before offering them to me.

"No. I don't need to see them." I refuse to look at them. "I believe you." I look at him again and smile. I stand up. "Jasper?" I say to him.

The little boy looked up at me, not knowing who I exactly was at the current point in time.

"Just be careful. Mike tried holding him and he went into a screaming fit." She slowly walked over and picked Jasper up before offering him to me.

I take him into my arms. "Hey, buddy." I smile. "I bet you are tired." He looks at me like he's still not sure how he feels about me. "Ava. Follow me." We all walk to my guest room. I set Jasper on the bed. "Make yourself comfortable. We will talk about all this tomorrow."

Ava smiles and softly took ahold of my hand, giving it a soft squeeze before kissing my cheek. "Thank you so much, Evin. Really I can't thank you enough."

"Yeah," I say awkwardly. "Have a good night Ava." I walk out of the guest room and into mine. I lean my back against the door and rub the bridge of my nose. I'm still trying to process what's exactly going on. I lie down on my bed and fall asleep.
