World: Real Life (Kinda)

Quiet. That's all it was, really. Well, besides the rare car passing by or the faint rustle of tree leaves in the wind. It was peaceful. It was also 3AM. And Nick had woken up for some god forsaken reason.

He yawned and reluctantly got out of bed. He was thirsty. He made his way over to his bedroom door, opening it to reveal a figure sitting on the couch, huddled in a small blanket but awake, writing on something.

"Tommy?" Nick questioned. Tommy looked up at him innocently.

"Hey."

"What are you doing up?"

"I could ask the same."

"Well I woke up and now I'm getting water," He made his way to the kitchen. "But what about you?" He walked back out into the living room, sitting down on the couch away from Tommy. He could see the curly hair male grimace at his question.

"I uh... I had a nightmare. I can't fall back asleep. So I'm working on my music." Nick nodded, feeling a bit sorry for Tommy.

"How long have you been up?" Tommy squinted at the clock.

"A couple hours."

"Have you tried going back to sleep?"

"Of course I have! I'd love nothing more than to fall asleep right now!" He hesitated, his voice lowering. "But I can't. It's bothering me too much."

"What happened in it?" Nick asked, resting his face on his hand.

"I don't really even remember. It was just one of those dreams where you don't remember anything about it after you wake up, but there's still that dreadful feeling around, you know?" Nick nodded.

"So what are you doing with your music then?" He yawned.

"Nothing much. Nick, if you wanna go back to bed, don't let me stop you."

"No, it's fine. It's fine." He yawned again. "I don't want you staying up alone. So I'll stay up with you." Tommy smiled shyly.

"I'm serious. Your obviously tired-"
"So are you."
"But you have the ability to fall asleep now. I'll probably pass out in like an hour or two."

Nick looked at him solemnly.

"They say having someone next to you can help you sleep better." Tommy raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

"You heard me." Nick moved to take his notebook from him, placing it on the coffee table, and stood both of them up. Then he turned off the lamp that had been allowing Tommy sight and pulled them into Nicks room, Tommys blanket dragging behind him.

Nick got back into bed after pushing the door closed, and patted the space next to him. Tommy stood for a few minutes, and Nick settled in more before he felt a weight next to him. Eyes closed, he smiled.

Then, he cracked his eyes open, to see Tommy looking just to the left of Nicks face and biting his lip.

"What's wrong?" Nick asked kindly.

"You literally just pulled me into your bed with you. I'm kinda paranoid."

"Why?"

"Because it's 3AM! On a Saturday morning! And I'm laying in your bed, with you. It's a bit weird, okay?"

"I don't understand why. It's not like we're fucking spooning or something. You're on that side, I'm on this side."

"You don't just invite your roomate to sleep in your bed with you!" It was clear this was getting Tommy worked up. Nick sat up on his elbows. Tommy rubbed his face.
