World: Real Life (kinda)

The first time was when Cory and Nick had met in person. They had gone to a bar together, celebrating Nicks 21st birthday. Also celebration of them meeting personally for the first time since they met almost two years ago.

They were laughing together, both had a couple of drinks, and let's just say Cory got drunk a lot more easily than Nick did. But he wasn't drunk... yet.

"I'll be right back, Cory," Nick said, standing. "I'm gonna go get another drink."

"Grab me one to!" Cory said, still laughing. Nick smiled at his almost childish behavior and went over to the bar. He asked the bartender for the drinks, and stood there to wait.

"Hey, baby~ You here all alone?" A man said, coming to stand a bit to close to Nick.

"Um... no." Nick answered, being weirded out.

"You got a girl with you then?"

"I'm just here with my friend." Nick took a step to his left, but the man followed him, this time stepping closer.

"Then they won't miss you for a while?" He smirked at Nick, placing a hand on his lower arm.

"Sir, please step away from me." Nick yanked his arm away.

"Ooh, feisty. How nice."

"Please don't use that word to describe me." Nick said to the obvious drunk. The man just turned his body and placed his hand on Nicks thigh instead of his arm.

"Come on, baby. Just follow me, your friend won't miss ya." Nick swallowed, becoming scared.

"I asked you to please step away." The hand on his thigh tightened, and he swallowed a lump in his throat.

"And I said to follow me. Only one of us is gonna win this argument and it won't be you."

"He asked you to stop." Nick turned his head to see Cory, his arms crossed with a scowl on his face.

"And I presume you're his friend?" The man slurred a bit.

"No. I'm his boyfriend and I'm telling you to get lost." Cory took Nicks hand, the one located on the opposite side from the man, and frowned.

"Oh!" The man smiled. "Then you can join, too."

"Or you can step away before I punch your lights out." Cory threatened, dedpanned. The man frowned.

"Fine, whatever." He pushed himself away from the bar counter and stomped away. Cory released Nicks hand as soon as he was out of view.

"You okay?" Cory asked, focused on him now. The bartender slid two drinks in front of them, and Nick raised a hand in thanks before answering.

"Yeah, he just gave me the creeps."

"He was trying to take advantage of you."

"Yes, I'm aware. Thanks for saving me, though you didn't have to. I can handle myself."

"Yes, you looked like you were handling that, with his hands all over you."

"It wouldn't have gotten too far. Besides, 'I'm his boyfriend', a bit overprotective much?"

"Just so he'd have a reason not to mess with you anymore. Typically the relationship card works."

"I'm not in a relationship." Cory rolled his eyes.

"Obviously." He paused, then smiled before running a hand through Nicks hair. "Now come on, birthday boy. We still have some drinking to do."

The second time was a few months later. It was definitly a different manner than the first, but important none the less.

Cory had driven up to see Nick, just for the weekend. He had found out quickly that yes, Nick lived in a big house, and yes, it was pretty much empty. Nick was the only one who lived there.

The day had gone by quickly, and Cory had layed down on the couch as Nick made something to eat (pizza no doubt). He drifted off.

When he awoke, it was to Nick shaking him frantically and he was very cold. Cory was shaking.

"Ni-nick?" He stuttered.

"Cory, oh god... are you okay? You were whimpering. I think you were having a nightmare."

"Y-yeah. I'm fine." He took a deep breath. "What did you-" But he was cut off as a sudden sob raked him. His hands went up to his mouth.

"Cory!" Nick startled. He took Corys hands away from his face. "Whats wrong? Cory?" Cory didn't answer for a moment.

"Sorry, sorry. I don't know what that was." Nick hugged him.

"What were you dreaming about?" Cory furrowed his eyebrows.

"I don't even remember. But it was dark, I think." Nick nodded, and a minute of silence passed between them.

"I made pizza."

"Of course you did." Nick smiled slightly, and the two of them made their way to the kitchen. Sitting down with some food, Cory felt all uneasiness go away. He was safe, and with a friend.

Their dinner passed in silence other than a radio Nick had going in the background. Which was surprising, as Nick loved to talk with Cory about... anything really.

"Hey," Cory said after they had finished. Nick looked at him.

"Yeah?"

"Thanks for helping me with that earlier. Though you didn't have to. I've been having nightmares alot more recently, but the feeling never goes away so quickly." Nick smiled slightly.

"It's no problem, and yes, I did have to. You were scared and I wasn't gonna just let you sit there." This time Cory smiled.

"I think I'm gonna head to bed."

"Yeah, me too. It's been a long day." Nick agreed.

They stood from the table and went into their separate rooms.

The third time was probably the most important.

Another month passed, and Cory was back at Nicks house. They really did love to hang around each other.

They had gone out to eat somewhere, a local restaurant. The name didn't matter.

"Tonight's been fun." Cory said, smiling at Nick as they walked back to his car.

"I'm glad you think so. Because I have something to ask you." Cory raised an eyebrow at Nick.

"What is it?" Nick bit his lip slightly.

"Well," He started nervously, which made Cory all the more interested. "I was wondering if maybe you'd like to go out with me...?" He said it slowly. Corys hand went to his mouth. Then he smiled.

"Of course! I'd love to."

"Really?" Nick said back, a small smile forming.

"Yeah." Cory hugged him, and Nick hugged back. When Cory pulled away, he looked a bit flustered.

"Whats wrong?" Nicks smile faltered slightly.

"Nothing, it's just... was this whole night actually a date?"

"If you wanna think of it as one, then yeah." Nicks full smile resumed.

"You didn't have to. You could've just asked me out at your house and I still would've said yes."

"I thought you would, but I wanted to do something nice with you first incase it didn't work." Cory hugged him again.

"Nick, I could stand here with you forever, honestly, but we're in a parking lot at 8PM. Let's go home."

"Oh yeah, that'd make sense." They smiled at each other again, before getting into the car and driving off.
