' Pardon Me ' | Modern time AU

"Come on, babe, you've got to come." Kyle said over the phone, I switched the device from my left ear to my right so I could write better. I sighed and placed my pencil on the desk and held the phone upright.

"Listen, Kyle, I know you want to spend more time with me but I've got to do homework." Before he could answer back I continued, "Ask your girlfriend?" I suggested to which he sighed.

"She's mad at me." I rolled my eyes and have a short laugh, it was more bitter than anything, hopefully he didn't notice.

"Again? What did you do this time?" I asked. The other line was quiet for a while and I had to keep checking if he hung up or not.

"Honestly, I don't know." He mumbled. Right then, my heart broke. Everyone knew Jasmine Macentire wasn't a nice girl. She got everything she wanted, and if she didn't, well, no one has ever lived to tell the story.

Okay, so I'm kidding. She basically just made them feel horrible in every way possible. And my younger brother was dating her. I got up from my desk and started checking myself in the mirror. My (H/C) was pulled back into a messy bun and I was still in my night clothes, which were grey sweats and a baggy school team sweater.

"Okay, I'll need to fix a lot of things but I should be ready by.." I checked my clock, it was 6:21 right now, "Maybe 6:50 through 7:10." A loud sigh came from the other end.

"High maintenance." He whispered which made me laugh.

"Shut up." I said, finishing my small laughing fit, "Where are we going anyway?" There was a pause.

"Hooters." And like that he hung up. I pulled the phone away from my ear and gave it a weird look, as if he could see me, before turning it off and placing it down. Okay, time to start the process of perfection.

:----------:

So, the process of perfection was just eyeliner, mascara, foundation, and lip gloss. Which took five minutes because putting on eyeliner is not fun. Kyle was lucky I decided I didn't want make-up today. That and I'm lazy.

Next, I chose a (F/C) v-neck shirt, my favorite shirt, but only because the fabric was soft and it felt like I was wearing nothing. I chose light blue jeans with rips here and there. I then put up my hair into a pony tail and looked myself over in the mirror.

'Perfect' is not the word I would use to describe myself. Then again I haven't seen a perfect woman, or man, in my entire life. Perfect doesn't exist, but that doesn't make anyone less beautiful.

I was done before Kyle was here so I grabbed some chocolate and sat on the couch. Watching movies and stuffing my face with chocolate. After a few minutes of watching movies and making myself fatter with chocolate, Kyle literally busted into my apartment.

"Let's go to Hooters!" He screamed childishly, pulling me up from the couch. I screamed. Well, it was a scream and a laugh as he pulled me out the door.

As we were going out I tried my best to close and lock the door, thankfully being successful in doing so. He pulled me to his truck and pushed me to the door and then ran to the other side. He was obviously excited but I'm not sure if it's because of the amazing food Hooters has.

I made my way into the truck and he started the truck, I hardly had time to close the door before he was already backing out of the drive way. I slammed the door shut and buckled up quickly.

"Slow down, Kyle." I told him, to which he slowed down some. "What has you so happy?" He cased me a "You've got to be kidding me" look.

"It's Hooters, duh." He laughed and shook his head, "Nah, After I called you, I called Jasmine. I told her we were over and hung up." He threw one hand up in the air, "I'm free!" He sung loudly. I shook my head.

"I think you're drunk." He replied without missing a beat.

"I will be by the end of the night." I shook my head and laughed with him. I could already tell he was going to be a lot happier.

:----------:

I watched gleefully as Kyle talked with a waitress, she looked like she was enjoying the conversation. He had talked with me until the waitress came up and asked for his number, ever since then, they've been talking. Not like I mind. I was just lonely. I could probably call a friend and ask them to come pick me up-

"Pardon me?" I looked up from the tea in my hands and my eyes widened. A handsome man, a very handsome man, stood in front of me. His eyes focused on me and his lips formed into a small smile.

"Yes?" I asked, trying to keep my voice from failing me. So far so good.

"I couldn't help but notice that you looked a little lonely here." He said, he turned around to motion to a group of men staring at us, "I was wondering if you'd like to go sit with my friends and I." He looked back at me almost hopefully. I shook my head.

"I'm sorry, sir, I don't feel comfortable sitting around strangers." He cut me off short.

"If it calms your nerves any, you won't be surround just by men. I have some female friends over there too." I looked back over and noticed a small girl with a yellow shirt smiling at me. Behind her a few more women stand, but they weren't focused on me. I looked back up at him, "You can trust me." He said and held out his hand.

I glanced back at Kyle before looking back at the man. I stood up and walked past his hand and over to his group of friends. He followed after me, noticing his huge grin.

"I'm Aaron Burr." He introduced. I stopped walking and turned to him. I smiled.

"Nice to meet you, Aaron Burr, sir." I said and shook his hand, "I'm (Y/F/N) (Y/L/N)." Right after I said that a yell erupted from his friends.

"Get some, Burr!" And then laughs. I joined in on the laughter and gave him a short wink.

"Get some, Burr." I repeated and grabbed his arm to lead him to his friends, noting that he was frozen in place.
