The last few days had been complete bliss after that one date. Aubrey was just waiting for the right time to propose now.
"I'm coming home early today just so you know," Keanna said, wrapping her arms around Aubrey's neck that morning. "Me and Kendrick are going to lunch."
"Why?"
"Because we're friends...?"
"I kinda thought we put the Kendrick thing to bed," Aubrey commented.
"I thought so too," Keanna replied. "Obviously you still want to talk about it so let's talk."
"I just don't feel comfortable with you going out to lunch with him," Aubrey stated. "Simple as that."
"Okay, but we're just friends, Aubrey. You have to trust me. I would never cheat on you, I promise."
"But-"
"But nothing. I don't want to be late so I'll see you later. I love you." She kissed his temple and blew a kiss to Shiloh before walking out the door.
Aubrey took a deep breath and did his best to ignore the situation. They just got out of a really rough patch and he knew they didn't need another argument.
Somehow, Shiloh fell asleep by the time he was down the street so there was no screaming and crying. Today was starting off fairly well oddly enough.
"Good morning, Mr. Graham," Donovan greeted as Aubrey walked in the building. "Hey, Shiloh."
Shiloh only buried herself in the crook of Aubrey's neck. She still wasn't comfortable around him.
"Party and them are already working if you wanna check on them. Also there's a meeting about a PR campaign for Majid Jordan at three o'clock," Donovan said following Aubrey into the elevator.
"Nice. I don't know what I'm gonna do with this one," Aubrey said, looking at Shiloh. "She's been pretty used to hanging out with me here but I don't know if she can stay with anyone else. I might have to take her to the meeting."
"I can ask Ryan," Donovan laughed. "She likes him a lot."
"Yeah, but I don't think she likes him that much."
Aubrey didn't want Shiloh to get too accustomed to tagging along with him to work but he also didn't want her sitting at home all the time.
"Oh, the girl is still here," Party yawned as Aubrey entered the room.
"I hope that isn't a problem," he said.
"Are you sure something's even wrong with her?" Noelle asked.
"What are you talking about?"
"How do you know she isn't faking this?" Ryan clarified. "Kids fake being sick to get out of school all the time."
"You guys really think my daughter would fake a social anxiety disorder so she didn't have to go to kindergarten?"
"You never know," Chubbs argued.
"I do know. She's my daughter, I would've caught that. Look, I'm gonna go check my email or something because it's too early for me to deal with your bullshit."
Aubrey waved for Donovan to follow him and walked to his office with an overwhelming amount of frustration. Why would anyone think Shiloh was capable of lying about something like this?
"You should get some new friends," Donovan advised.
"I'll look into that," Aubrey replied giving Shiloh blank paper and a pen. "Can you run a few errands for me? Be back by three for that meeting. I'll text you the list."
