Ch. 13-"Send Help Now!"
'What am I going to do now?!' Natalie felt devastated, she might never get to see her friends again and they still hated her. She was completely lost, the feeling of hopelessness diffused all around her as she racked her brain for some if any kind of solution. 'I could call someone and... no Mother took my phone! Maybe I could talk to them at school... except they don't want to talk to me at all! I can't even just try to arrange something after school because I'm supposed to come home immediately!' She got up from her current position and pulled her legs close to her chest as she tried to locate a ray of hope in her clouded thoughts. She looked up to see an inspirational poster that her parents had given her long ago. WWJD. What would Jesus Do? She read in confusion. "Ugh, Jesus was never in this situation! Wait, he faced persecution for his position and his firm beliefs so... okay fair enough. Maybe he would know the answer." She got down on her knees and proceeded to pray to try and find the answer.'Please God, I really need you now. My friends are wonderful people, some know you exist and others don't but I still care so much about them. I understand if you find some of their actions sinful, my point to everyone else is to show love and respect for them despite any of that. I don't care about that stuff because you are their judge, not I nor anyone else. I hope you forgive them because I know you love them regardless of anything, which why you're such an amazing God. Aside from that, I hope you'll forgive me for judging them so harshly and to help me win their forgiveness because I owe so much of the person I was becoming of them. In Jesus' name, amen.' She sat upright and sighed as she went to bed. In a sense she almost felt a little bit better, sometimes prayers were for others' needs but other times it felt good to just rant or talk to someone who she knew deep down was listening and she had no one else as forgiving to listen to. Maybe he would offer a miracle resolution, whether it be extremely obvious or something rather subtle she didn't even care at this point, she had reached the brink of desperation. She awoke the next morning and still didn't feel anything other than just placidity. No new ideas struck her, and she had no idea when she would run out of time to fix any of her mistakes, which not only left her forlorn but also a tad paranoid that one day the book would just randomly be thrown her way. It made for a very exhausting day, and she was just about to contemplate hiding in a bathroom stall, before she was felt a wad of notebook paper pelt the back of her head.
"Psst! Natalie, look at it!" An unexpected yet well known voice acknowledged her. She turned her head to see Benji staring with intensity as he gestured for her to pick up and read the crumpled paper ball. 'Huh, I don't get it... what does he mean by "Just keep holding onto the paper until Mr. Ryan looks this way?" I don't understand-'
"Ms. LaMont! Are you passing notes in my class?!" Looking up she saw her displeased instructor rip the paper right out of hand. He scanned the paper before looking up rather puzzled at the content, but then seemed rather miffed at not finding anything embarrassing to say aloud for the class. "Just what does this mean exactly?"
"Nothing at all Mr. Ryan!" Benji exclaimed proudly as Natalie looked back at him with a horrified expression.
'Benji please!' She internally pleaded. 'Mr. Ryan is the LAST teacher anyone should be messing with, let alone someone like you!'
"Oh so I suppose you passed the note to her, Mr. Ball?!" He glowered towards the sneering boy with his glass eye pointed directly at him with such distaste.
"Totally," shrugging off the incident like it was no big deal. Mr. Ryan was just about to open his mouth before Benji interrupted "Before you ask 'Why?' or 'What does this mean?,' it actually doesn't mean anything. I just really wanted to mess with you and see your reaction."
