Our whole gang (Milo, Melissa, Zack and I) is on the bus to our 'career stops', and we're looking at our career forms.

For Middle School, we're supposed to choose a career listed, so we can start learning about that career in school.

"So, we're supposed to pick a career today? The job that we're gonna have for the rest of our lives? Today?" Milo questions quickly.

I frown, "Same! I'm not sure if I wanna be a comic artist, or an Author! Who KNOWS what I'm gonna do?!"

"When I was little, I wanted to be a journalist. Or, queen of the universe." Melissa tells us.

I nod, "Melissa, you know how to choose your jobs."

"You know, only one of those is actually a career." Zack crosses his arms.

I roll my eyes and slap the back of his head, "Chill down, Zack. We all know Melissa is the queen of the universe."

"When I was little, I wanted to be a robot." Milo smiles.

"And that's not a career at all. Also, none of those are on the list." Zack rubs the spot where I slapped him.

"But, what if I wanna be an ophthalmic laboratory technician?" Milo asks curiously.

I chuckle, knowing what Milo's doing.

"An optha what now?" Melissa's eyes widen.

"They make prescription eye glasses and contact lenses." Milo tells us.

"Milo, do you actually want to be an optha---" Melissa tries to ask, but can't pronounce the name of it.

"An ophthalmic laboratory technician. And, no. But, maybe, I don't know. What if I wanna do all these things? I have to decide today?" Milo seems exasperated.

I nudge him, "It's some cheesy school form, Milo."

"Just so you know Milo, I already did. Here, I wrote it in." Melissa hands Zack and Milo her career sheet.

I am sitting with Melissa, and Milo and Zack are sitting in front of us.

Zack sighs, kind of annoyed, "Journalist slash queen of the universe." He reads the written words aloud.

"Now, it's a career." Melissa holds a smirk on her face.

"And some of these don't even sound like real jobs. "Animator?" I think it's a typo. But, what if that is a real job? How will I ever decide?" Milo rants.

I nod in understandment, "Yeah, they shouldn't expect this much out of us."

"But, Milo, an animator is somebody who ta--" I am about to add, but our administrator cuts me off.

"Welcome, children. Our next Career Day speaker is---" Our teacher pauses.

"Milo's father, Mr. Murphy."

We exit the bus, and Martin is in sight.

"Hi, kids." He greets, waving to the bus of fearful kids. Excluding Milo, Melissa, Zack and I of course.

"Mr.Murphy is going to tell us what the city's Safety Inspector does." Our teacher explains.

"Mr. Murphy." The teacher gestures to Martin, to take it away.

Martin starts walking into the building. We all follow, and he explains his job.

"Come on, Dad, wow us." Milo smiles brightly at his old man.
