When Earth Stopped Moving

Chapter 1 : COUNTDOWN /Part 1 : The truth

Every single one of us jumped out of their beds -even Adam Dragger who was in a deep slumber two minutes ago. We then went down to the canteen , where we all were told to gather whenever the emergency bell rings . And as we were heading there , panic began to emerge . So many questions had to be answered and I was hoping everything would be clarified once all the students gathered . But at the same time , a part of me , refused to know , fearing the worst ...

The circumstances were unfortunately not helping .When one thousand students start running to the same place in such a tiny building , it was pretty hard to move . I could barely hear Kyle talking to me while rushing among many others.

-" SEE ? I TOLD YOU THIS IS SERIOUS ! He shouted.

Indeed , the situation was barely believable. How could the sun possibly stick in one position in the sky and never leave it for hours ? Nothing in the world could give a satisfying explanation to this. In the least , nothing within our knowledge .

For 5 minutes , only the sound of chairs moving and hitting the floor could be heard throughout the canteen, until Mr. Shawn Drauless - one of the most hated teachers in the school - raised his hands as a sign for us to stop talking . Judging from everyone's face , Kyle and I were not the only ones who noticed something was odd. Almost every student was talking to his/her neighbor and half of the faces showed panic and a sort of questioning despair. Nothing could make the situation worse except the unusual worried face of Mr.Drauless.

-"We would like to have at least 10 minutes of your complete attention , he said when everyone eventually stopped talking.
I could bet everyone was craving for an explanation they may never get from someone as cold as Shawn Drauless .The anxiety,however, began to rise and soon the only thing that could be heard was the sound of mosquitos flying .                

-"First , we would like to ask all of you not to panic about what will be revealed in the next minutes . It would also be great to save me from your begging . He said when it got calm.

I was not the only one who wasn't sure about what he was actually meaning by "begging". I also could guess I was not the only one who started imagining the worst scenarios neither when I took a look around me.

-"I , along with all your other professors, have agreed that , every single one of you need now more than ever , to know the truth that has been hidden from the public  20 years ago. Some of you if not all , might be shocked of what will be said in the next minutes , but I demand you to keep your calm. Anyone who looses his temper would be immediately expelled from here. I highly doubt , he added when he noticed our sudden excitement, you would be this much excited about getting expelled if you hear me in the next minutes .

His words were accompanied with a silence of the dead ...Well , even though it's not the first time Mr. Drauless has been this direct towards his students, the surprise was real. Obviously , we all could agree : what he was about to reveal wasn't meant to be good no matter how we'll see it . 

He kept his silence for a moment , as to mentally prepare himself and finally began speaking :

-"As you may have noticed , we are still in the middle of the day while all of the watches are showing it's approximately midnight .

Every one started whispering to their neighbors all over again , except for Kyle who kept on staring at him with a completely pale face .

-"SILENCE ! " Mr. Drauless shouted and the whispers suddenly stopped .
