Chapter 2 : THE HIDDEN CITY OF AZARAT./ Part 1 : The girl in the liquid

I don't know how we had enough time to escape . May be the odds were not against us for once .

May be we ran faster than we thought we could and reached the rocket just before the explosion occurred.

Because of the shaking of the ground , however, as well as the amount of debris falling on us from the roof during the explosion, we did not leave without scars.

Adam Dragger was the one who suffered the most as he already was in a bad shape when we found him inside the ship.

My leg which was already hurting a lot before I entered , has hopefully started regaining endurance and I was feeling less pain than before.

But the explosion only made it worse as I violently got propulsed against a wall inside our rocket when we were escaping.

Kyle was the only one who looked miraculously fine , as he had the reflex of using the medal we were given 6 months earlier before taking off .
It deployed a specialized suit which protected him from the debris and flames of the explosion , as well as the high turbulences-the thing I ironically suffered the most from.

30 minutes after the explosion, approximately 1 hour after I had a talk with Shawn Drauless and Richard Hikes and surprisingly, half a year already after we took off from earth, we were finally heading to our final destination.

The craters on the moon's surface could be easily be distinguished by the naked eye now.

Even though I was used to looking at them using the school telescopes, seeing them like this from a surprisingly short distance, made me realize how enormous they actually are and how really small us humans were .

We were all determined to make it till the end , even though we perfectly knew our lives were in the line. Not that we had that much of a choice anyway.

For the sake of all the dead souls with whom we shared a whole childhood, whole memories and above all, the same objective, the mission HAD to be success no matter what.

Still , even though we managed to save ourselves from an imminent danger , even though we escaped what we thought was unescapable, even though we made it alive from an alien base which was a miracle in itself, something was still hunting us, and we still have no idea what to do about it.

-"I hope she'll be okay..., Kyle sighed looking at the blond girl's body lying on the ground.

Leilah Stonefall was in fact unconscious , lying behind Kyle and I and hasn't woken up yet. Kyle checked earlier that she had a normal heartbeat and was breathing fine so it was only a question of time before she wakes up.

No one really knows what happened to her.

Since we've set the heading to the moon, he avoided talking about it.

May be was it because of the fight we had before entering the alien base.

But I honestly almost forgot about it as we had more urgent things to think about. With everything that happened in the last 3 days , that fight seemed to be so ridiculously trivial. Not wanting any other fights ,however, I had to respect his decision and not bring the subject up until he does .

-"What about Adam ? I asked .

-"Still in the sleeping area."

-"He still doesn't wanna talk ?

-"I don't know. He just directly went to sleep earlier and asked me for some alone time or whatever. I don't think we should bother him now. He'll eventually speak to us...I hope. Kyle explained even though his face already told me he was as impatient as me to know what happened to him and to the others .Let him rest for now, he's been through a lot.
