"Stop."

Another fry is thrown at my face, and I place it in my mouth.

"Alex, I said stop," I manage to say as I chew my food.

"You're supposed to catch it in your mouth," he says, throwing another freaking fry at my face.

"But I'm bad at that," I tell him, as I throw a fry back him, and it lands straight on his nose.

He lets out a chuckle as he eats it.

"Can you please just drive me home now?" I sigh tiredly.

He stares at me for a few seconds before stuffing a handful of fries in his mouth. "No problem, beautiful."

I roll my eyes and avert my gaze to the window, as Alex slowly backs out of the parking space.

My mind goes back to Trent's text. I guess Alex kinda does give a fuck about me.

"Have you seen my phone?" He asks, going through his pockets.

"Oh, in the cup holders," I answer. "But don't text and drive, 'cause if we both die, I'll annoy the shit outta you when we're ghosts."

I pop a fry in my mouth as I keep staring out the window.

It's silent for a few seconds, before he lets out a nervous laugh. "Whatever you say," he says. "Can you text my mom and tell her I'm heading home now?"

I eat a another fry and reach for his phone. "Sure thing."

     ~

Alex slowly stops in front of my house and rolls the windows down. "Home sweet home, beautiful."

I let out a chuckle as I step out of the car and make my way to the front door. "Thanks, bubble gum."

     Shit, wait-

     "You remember that?"

I run my fingers through my hair, trying to play it off. "Uh what? What do you mean?"

Alex leans forward against the open window, looking amused. "Ivy, you just fucking called me bubble gum."

It's a dumb nickname, but it's what I used to call him. I've been calling him that ever since 4th grade when he got bubble gum stuck in our hair. We were such smart kids back then.

"I-it just came to my mind," I say with a shrug. "I'm probably just really tired."

He gives me a smile. "Well, you should go take a nap."

I force a smile back. "Yep. Oh, do you want your hoodie back?"

"I mean, since you like guy clothes now, you can keep it," he says, rubbing the back of his neck.

     My eyes lighten up. "Really?"

I can see the slight amusement flicker in those pretty light brown eyes of his. "Yep."

     Hell yes.

"Thanks," I tell him. "F-for everything today."

     "No problem."

I give him a smile before turning around to my house.

     "Ivy, wait."

I find myself quickly turning around. "Yea?"

Alex holds up my bag out of the car window. "Don't forget your things."

"Oh shit, right," I mumble, feeling just a bit embarrassed. I rush to the car and take my bag. "Thanks. Again."

"You're welcome," he says. "And uh, Ivy?"

     "Hmm?" I reply.

He rubs the back of his neck and let's out a sigh. "Remember how we would always watch movies on Fridays during freshmen year?"

I nod my head. The last movie we watched together was Forrest Gump.

"You wanna start doing it again? This Friday?"

I stare at Alex for a moment. "This better not be some Netflix and chill shit," I laugh.

He laughs too, seeming relieved. "I'm not making any promises, beautiful," he says, winking at me.

I shake my head. "Sure, bubble gum. You'll drive me?"

He nods his head. "That's correct."

"Okay," I say, running my fingers through my hair yet again. "See you at school."

"See you at school," he repeats, and I finally make my way to my front door. I wave goodbye to Alex before shutting the door behind.

My brother and sister quickly scramble away front the front window.

"What the fuck?" I say, tossing my bag onto the couch. "Were you guys spying on me?"

"What? No," Delilah quickly responds, rubbing her palms on her shirt.

I roll my eyes and make my way upstairs to my room.

My phone chimes as I shut myself in my room, and I pull it out of my pocket. And it's a text from Alex.

💩: hello is this the krusty krab?? 👀

I let out a chuckle before typing a reply:

Me: no this is patrick 💤

💩: 😂😂

Me: 😂. you're already home?

💩: wow you care? 😏

Me: lol that's funny. I'm jus hoping you didn't text and drive

💩: don't worry, mom. I didn't

Me: welp, imma take a nap now

💩: sweet dreams ivy ✨

I collapse onto bed with a huge smile on my face.
