Sometimes, there's things that you don't notice about some people.
Like how fucking persistent my friends are.
"You guys have been up there for almost an hour now," Paris calls out from downstairs. "You guys aren't doing anything...weird, right?"
I let out a groan and turn to Alex. "I blame you for this."
"Wait, why me?" he exclaims quietly.
"Because you're the reason why they're acting like this," I say with an eye roll.
He lets out a sigh and rests his back against the wall. "Can we just go down there and watch a movie?"
"No-"
"Ivy! We're gonna eat all the popcorn without you if you don't get down here."
Without saying another word, I quickly make my way down the stairs and snatch the bowl from Jade. Then I give her a cold glare. "What did I say about eating all the food without me?"
"That it's a good idea?" she replies with a shrug, as she slumps herself onto the couch. "Anyway, at least it got you down here."
"And apparently me, too," Alex adds, as he walks down the last few steps. "So what movie do you guys want to watch?"
~
I snuggle next to Paris, as I struggle to watch the horror film currently playing on the screen. Every now and then, I feel her hand stroke my hair in attempt to comfort me.
"They always follow the fucking creepy sound," Jade states in frustration, as she sits on the other couch besides Alex. "It's like they want to die."
"Right?" Alex says in agreement, his eyes glued to the screen. "I mean, a person can't be that stupid."
I let out a chuckle. "It's not that shocking. In fact, all you have to do is take one look in the mirror, and boom, you've found a stupid person."
He takes a quick glance at me with a smile on his face. "Shut up, Ivy."
I give him a wink and continue watching the screen.
"Aw shit, I gotta go. My mom wants me home," Paris says, as she stands from the couch. "Bye, guys. See you later."
"Wait, no! Don't leave me," I call out. "Snuggle buddies don't bail when watching scary movies."
She just rolls her eyes and stuffs her shoes on. "Stop making up these rules, dummy. Bye, love you."
I let out a sigh and turn around. "Fake."
I hear her chuckle before opening the door. "You love me. Okay, bye."
"Bye," I mumble.
At this moment, a fucking creepy face appears on the screen, causing me to let out a shriek. "No, fuck off!"
Alex plops himself beside me on the couch. "Don't worry, beautiful. I'll protect you."
I give him a shove. "Shut up and sit on this side. That way, I can block the screen with your shoulder."
He gives me a look of pure confusion, but proceeds to stand up and sit on my right side. "When we were 14, didn't you say you weren't scared of horror movies anymore?"
"I was just trying to be cool in front of the juniors," I groan, as I struggle to block the view of the screen with Alex's shoulder.
Jade lets out a chuckle and stuffs a fist-full of popcorn in her mouth. "I remember that. You were so fucking lame."
