I walk through the hallway, when I feel a tap on my shoulder.
"Oh hey, Melissa," I mumble, catching sight of the perky blonde.
"Hi, can I talk to you?"
I blink a few a times before answering. "Uh, sure."
She gives me a smile and pulls me into an empty classroom. Once we step inside, she closes the door. "You're close friends with Alex, right?"
"I- I guess."
She flips her blonde locks to the side, but her confident act didn't hide how nervous she seemed. "Do you know if- he likes me?"
Oh shit.
"Um, I don't really know-"
"Can you ask him for me?" She asks, seeming almost desperate.
My eyes widen in realization. "Oh my god, do you like him?"
She immediately fixes her eyes onto the ground, her face turning a shade of red. Just like I do. "I kinda have a thing for him," she squeaks.
We jump at the sound of the door quickly opening. "Ladies, don't you have a class to go to?"
"Sorry, Ms. Welkins," Melissa mumbles, as I follow her out of the room.
Once were out the door, she quickly turns around, taking hold of my shoulders. "Promise me you'll ask him. Please?"
I want to say no. Just say no. "Sure."
Fuck.
Her arms wrap tightly around my body as she lets out a squeal. "Thank you, thank you!"
I don't say anything else until she heads to her next class.
I start making my way to my current period, already late as hell. I continue down the partially empty halls, when I come around a corner, almost bumping into someone.
"My bad," I quickly apologize, keeping my eyes down.
The person doesn't say anything, as they keep walking behind me. Well damn. Okay be that way.
I keep walking ahead, until I finally make my way to class. I reach for the door knob, when someone on the other side immediately opens it instead, revealing Alex.
He looks attractively tired, if that makes any sense. His messy brown locks fall slightly over his light brown eyes. He's wearing an olive hoodie and black sweatpants, the outfit looking similar to mine.
Once his eyes land on me, he places his hands on my shoulders and pushes me lightly away from the door.
"Bitch, I'm trying to get to class," I tell him.
"And I'm supposed to be heading to the bathroom, but now we can hang out together," he says, dragging me away by my hand.
"Alex," I groan, "we're gonna get in trouble."
"We have a sub. Relax," he tells me. "Plus, I said you were present, so you can thank me."
"Thanks," I mumble.
We end up making our way downstairs to the 2nd floor, heading to a class that I don't take. We step inside, and I immediately realize that the room is basically empty, except for the teacher sitting at their desk. "Hey, Dr. Paul," Alex greets him, still holding onto my hand.
"Hey, sport," the teacher says, taking his glasses from his face. "Don't you have a class right now?"
"We're not doing anything in that class because there's a sub," Alex responds. "Can we chill here for a bit?"
"Of course. Don't get crazy or anything," he says, turning back to his computer.
"We won't," Alex says, pulling me to a desk near the back of the room. He pulls another chair over and gestures me to sit down.
"So, what now," I say with a sigh.
"We make out," Alex says in a low voice, leaning closer.
"What was that, Mr. Davon?" Dr. Paul asks from the other side of the room.
"Nothing," Alex calls out. "I was just joking, Dr. P."
"Better have been," we hear him mumble.
I turn back to Alex, and he gives me a wink.
"You're such an idiot," I chuckle, as I reach out to shove his shoulder.
"But you love it," he says, biting his lip playfully.
I cover my mouth, trying my best not to laugh.
After a while, Melissa's question pops in my head. "So," I start, "how's Melissa?"
He shrugs his shoulders. "She's pretty good."
"Do you.. like her?"
It's silent for a few seconds, and an awkward feeling rests at the bottom of my stomach.
"I don't really know," he finally replies. He stares at me with curious eyes. "Why?"
"I was just wondering," I quickly say.
I watch a smirk appear on his lips. "Are you jealous or something?"
I roll my eyes. "Jealous my ass. She just wanted to know."
His eyes widened slightly. "She just wanted to know?" He repeats.
"I probably shouldn't even be telling you this, but yes. She told me to ask you because she just wanted to know," I respond.
