the razor-sharp pendulum was descending at an alarmingly rapid rate. it wouldn't be long before they all met their slow, painful doom. ❝ highest: #329 ❞
its sweep was brief, and of course slow. i watched it for some minutes somewhat in fear, but more in wonder.
distance between pendulum and ground: forty feet

taehyung awoke to the sound of someone nearby breathing heavily. curiously, he opened his eyes, blinking quickly to adapt to the light.
the light, he thought, as memories came flooding back to him. before, it was dark.
as he looked around, startled by the fact that he could now see the prison he was in, his eyes fell on the heaving body of a man not five feet off. the man was inhaling and exhaling slowly, clutching his stomach with his hands as he sat, curled over, on the smooth black floors.
the sight, for some reason, made his heart tug with pain and sympathy, and he immediately felt the urge to help.
"hello?" taehyung asked, his voice surprisingly ragged and hoarse.
the man flinched, and spun his head around when he heard taehyung's voice. huge brown eyes met taehyung's own, and he found himself looking into the young face of a man with messy dark hair, his lips parted slightly in shock.
"w-w-who are you?" the stranger asked, though his voice sounded familiar to taehyung.
"i'm taehyung," taehyung replied, and a look of recognition dawned on the man's face. "you're jungkook, right?" he asked, trying to remember the six others he had been talking to before he had fallen asleep.
"yeah," the man said, with a small, thin smile. "i remember you."
"are you alright?" taehyung asked. "you look... pale."
jungkook's eyes flitted to his right, and for the first time, taehyung noticed the massive hole in the ground just beyond jungkook's body. the pit, he thought, remembering how jungkook had almost fallen into it.
"there's..." jungkook stammered, running a hand through his already mussed hair. "t-t-there's b-b-bod--" he buried his face in his hands, the rest of his words incomprehensible amongst his quaking sobs.
an almost brotherly instinct overtook taehyung then, and he crawled on his hands and knees over to the shaking man and wrapped a tentative arm around him. jungkook flinched slightly at the contact, but he soon relaxed in taehyung's arms, his face still hidden by his own hands.
as jungkook cried, taehyung found himself looking around the room a bit more. namjoon had been right in predicting that their prison was a polygon, as it had three entirely smooth walls, the last wall seeming to have been replaced by the presence of the pit.
